For Those With The Big Red Gate Check Bag...

Just curious what you do with the bag when you are going through security? Fold it up and put it under the stroller or what? I haven't flown in 8 years - so I didnt know if they needed to check it out or what.

I'm not familiar with that specific bag, but all bags must go through the x rays at security so it would go on the conveyor and be x rayed with all other carry on items. Strollers are hand checked as well and nothing should be left in them.

I am assuming you are talking about a car seat gate check bag where you plan to put the seat in the bag at the gate. Simply put that bag through the xray scanner and pick it up on the other side.

And you'll have to either put the stroller through the xray machine or send it around for them to check it out (swab it, etc), so having the bag under the stroller seat wouldn't work anyway.

(if they have to take it away to check it out, don't forget to get it! I nearly forget DS's carseat (which was to be gatechecked) on our last flight...thankfully the kind TSA guy got my attention before I took off.)

we have a big honkin' stroller and it has always been required to be folded and slid thru the xray machine... NO EASY TASK... gotta turn it sorta sideways/diagonal just so, it clogged the machine once, etc... but it has been required in ISP, MCO and WPB... i've never seen one hand-checked... so be prepared to fold and slide!
