For those with a College Degree, what does your diploma say?

Mine is so old it says "Yabba Dabba Doo you are a Rock looker at A ".....and its written on sheeposaurus skin!!!!

Well I'll be, I had to check and I'm glad I did. Mine just says that they conferred the degree of Bachelor of Science on me. Interesting.

Though honestly, I'm glad, b/c Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science would have taken up WAY too much space. (now the major is just Exercise Science, those lucky current students, I've always hated having a BS in PE...opens the door to too many jokes from college friends, most of whom were graduated with BAs in English and were snooty about it, LOL)

Associate of Arts
Business Administration
Large Private College

Bachelor of Fine Arts
Graphic Design
HUGE Public University

Master of Arts
Publicity
Small Private University

I'm not sure what my second masters will show up as.

Bachelor of Science - Education
Master of Arts - Special Education

Both degrees are from large universities.

Your degree should be listed on your official transcript, along with the specific classes you completed to earn the degree. As an earlier poster said, many employers require an official transcript as proof your degree, not a copy of the diploma.

Yep. I've never been asked to see my diploma, I figure it's for my use alone. It's art for my office  I have shown numerous copies of my (official) transcript, though.

A piece of paper that says 'Bachelor of Science' on it doesn't tell a potential employer (or anyone, really) much of anything about what I studied or how I did in school.

:rotfl2: :rotfl:

I'd say it's pretty much down the middle with some having it and some don't.

When I applied for my job, I was asked to show my diploma, but that was also about 20 years ago.:scared1:
The catalyst for all this (one of my students) was disappointed because she looked forward to hanging her court reporting degree on the wall, nicely framed, stating that she earned her degree in court reporting.
I'm in nursing school right now, which is hard, but I remember being in court reporting school, and I would have to say that I don't think I could do it again. It is extremely frustrating - there's a higher drop-out rate for court reporters than there is for doctors; crazy, right?!
So I understood her when she stated that she wants Court Reporting listed on her diploma. I understand the whole college transcript idea, and how the diploma is nothing but a piece of paper.....but if it's just that, then why would the president of our school take it out, especially if it doesn't "mean anything"?

Keep on responding. I'd like to take the results back to my boss and let her know what others from around the country say.
Thanks!

Mine is considered a specialized degree - I have a BSW, so mine says "Bachelors of Social Work".

Mine is from the University of Washington, and just says "Bachelor of Arts."

Master's of Business Administration - I used to put something about concentration in finance and marketing on my resume , but the truth of the matter is we really did not have majors.

At Stanford we were strongly advised NOT to release our transcripts. The thought was that grades and rankings were not important as we had all completed a very, very competitive program.

Mine says something like this:

Webster University
School of Business and Technology
...blah blah blah conferred on me the degree of
Bachelor of Science
Computer Science

etc. etc.

I had an emphasis in Information Management, but it doesn't state that on the diploma.
