What was it like? Did you like it? Pros and cons? Some Disers have said pool view rooms are a nightmare at any resort. Not ideal for people who nap during the day. I'm in the planning stages of my next trip in 2 years. Pop's not set in stone, but there's a very good chance I'll stay there. I'm thinking I'll book a preferred Hippy Dippy view room. I'm usually not one to nap, then I think about my family. I'm not sure who will all be coming. Maybe a room on the other side of the 60's building would be fine. I'm open to all suggestions, even if not about 60's building.

It depends on the time of year. I did not notice a lot of loud noise, but I was close to the elevators, so in between the pool and the kids splash area. I was also on a high floor. There was a little noise, but more like a low rumble. I actually heard more pool noise when I faced the computer pool on the ground floor (perhaps because there are three buildings surrounding it, creating more of an echo).

I have been on the back side of the 60’s and didn’t hear anything at all.

I've stayed in a preferred pool view room at Pop at least 15 times, all but 2 of them on the first floor. Is there some noise, yes. Has it ever prevented me or other family members from taking a nap, no. In the afternoon, there's usually a constant background noise coming from the pool area. For us, it's not loud enough to make out conversations, but more like the low rumble another poster mentioned and it feels like background noise. If you or your family need it be very quiet to sleep, this isn't the location for you. Personally, I think I hear less from the pool area and activities itself in the afternoon than from the people walking to the Skyliner in the morning - not that those people are super loud but there can be some excited people early in the morning.

That's good to know. I don't need complete quiet to rest or nap.

@Disneyland1084 OP I’m getting the feeling you don’t know that Pop actually has a thread here on the resorts forum for all q’s and discussions about things Pop Century related. (Each of the Disney World Resorts has their own thread here on the Resorts Board). Here is the link to Pop’s link

I knew, but kind of forgot about it and didn't think to look at it. Thanks for the reminder.

I have stayed at Pop several times and I have had a pool view room, ground floor twice. I love Pop; it is my family's favorite value resort.

However, I do not love the pool view rooms. The pool music starts promptly at 10 am each morning and goes non stop until the pool closes at night. There is a lot of pool noise...people swimming, kids shouting, lifeguard shenanigans. It's all good, except when you want to sleep in or take a nap. The walls and the door do a good job of muffling the noise, but you can still definitely hear it.

If you are at all concerned about the pool noise, I would not pick a pool view room. There are so many things to love about Pop, but for me, I avoid the pool view rooms. I love the preferred rooms that aren't pool view. Super close to the dining and skyliner!

Have a magical trip!

Do you think some good ear plugs would block out the noise? I'm not really one to nap, but DH is. I'm going to try to encourage him to stay home next WDW trip. Before anyone slams me for that, lol, DH isn't into Disney. We go to DL every year, he's always back at the hotel by noon and doesn't come back until dinner. Anyway, I would love to have the pool right outside my door.

It wouldn't hurt to bring them just in case - I'm sure they'd block out the sound.

Having the pool just steps away is quite nice - especially if you forget something or need to use the restroom. We don't plan on ever booking a different category or honestly staying at a different resort because we know our room will be super close to everything. Also having a mug refill station at Petals (even if it's just for ice water) saves a little time from having to go to the food court (although that's really close too).

You could book a preferred room so you will be in the 60s section but not the preferred pool view. You will still be close to everything but it will be much quieter. We have stayed at pop several times and I don’t find it loud or chaotic but I do usually request a high floor and I think that makes a big difference.
