If you will be using the new deal to get the $750 gift card what will you use it on?
I am thinking about dropping the dining plan and just using it for food, but I have some good ADR's lined up and may cancel some if paying OOP.

Or keep dining plan and use 750 to pay for tips, photopass, upgrade to park hoppers, and since it is my 5 year old daughter's first trip a bunch of junk she really doesn't need.

Can't wait to see how you'll use your gift card

Hmmm...I will use some of mine on food because I always book more table services than the dining plan allows. I'll buy some T-shirts and a purse (I buy one every time I go). And candy at Epcot!

We are going to use it to pay for our "room only" bill on our next reservation.

We are staying at AKL for the 5 nights with the package then using the $750 to pay off the balance of our "room only" 7 night reservation. We are trying a split stay.

If you use this deal, we will probably spend it on dining and then the rest, if anything is left over, at BBB and PL. We will have two gift cards, but there will be 5 adults and 4 kids to share them. I don't think we can add the dining plan after checking in and receiving the gift card, which is a bummer because the dining plan will save the five of us (me, dh and our three '3+' kids) around $300.

How do you use it top upgrade to the park hoppers? I'm trying to run our numbers to see if we would save w/ this over the pin I used. Thanks!

just saw on another thread the gift card can not be used to upgrade tickets. Oh well. It does say they can be used for spa treatments which sounds good.

Where did you see that because I checked twice and was told they could be used to upgrade tickets.

Here is what I was told by using the chat now feature on the website:
you: Hello! I'm not sure if we will use Park hoppers or not. Can I upgrade at check in? If so, will it cost the same as if I purchase w/ the package ($167 on three 5 day tickets)?
Shane: Hello! I'd be happy to point you in the right direction. That is a great question! Guests may inquire about the possibility of upgrading or modifying their existing Magic Your Way Tickets at anytime in person within 14 days from the date of first use, regardless of whether the No Expiration Option is purchased. You can add an extra day or more, up to a total of ten days to your Magic Your Way ticket, or you can also add the Park Hopper®, Water Park Fun and More, and the no-expiration options at a guest relations window at a theme park. There is no surcharge to do this at the theme parks.
you: Can I use the $500 gift card that I get w/ the current special offer to pay for the $167 upgrade?
Shane: Yes. The Disney Gift Card, presented at check-in, can be used to upgrade your Magic Your Way ticket.

I went ahead and changed my ressie. After paying to upgrade to the parkhoppers we will still be about $200 ahead which we can use for tipping w/ the DDP. Yay!

Awesome! I saw someone mention it on the thread about the new discount released 12/21 around page 11 or 12. Glad you could prove me wrong, was really looking to upgrade with the gift card.

We will be using ours mostly for dining and see how that goes. We have always done DDP in that past, but I like the idea of ordering what I want (ie appi, no dessert, any snack we may want, split meals) but I am a little worried about over spending. We will have 3 adults and 4 kids (one is an infant) with 2 rooms so I know our dining will not go over the $1500, but 1 of the GC will technically be my mom's so dh, the kids, and myself will most likely blow through ours rather quickly. I plan on bringing a few hundred extra just in case. But I am sure my mom will chip in here and there, or buy the kids some souvenirs or something; we usually do not spend much on stuff like that, but I am a foodie and like to eat :confused3

I am going to use the gift card for food and fun! I am going to get the park hoppers added for starters, then let the kids do a few things I normally wouldn't. Maybe the BBB or the pirates league. Can't wait :)

We have planned all along to not do the DDP this trip so this gc promo works pretty good and we will use it to pay for meals. I had our trip booked at the GF and was so hoping for the 4/3 to be extended but I just moved our trip to the BC( we have only stayed there for a few nights previously) and I am pretty happy about getting any discount-

Has it been confirmed that you can use it to pay for meals?

I read on another thread (posted by a mod) that you cannot use the gift card on meals.

Confused as to what we can use this for.....other than souviners.

Sounds perfect to me. Maybe add BBB, do the FP photo session. Fireworks cruise.

I spoke w/ a CM on the phone when I changed my ressie & I used the "chat now" feature on the website to get this info:

you: Can I use the $500 gift card that I get w/ the current special offer to pay for the $167 upgrade?
Shane: Yes. The Disney Gift Card, presented at check-in, can be used to upgrade your Magic Your Way ticket.
Shane: You can use the Disney Gift Card for gratuities on the Table Service meals on your Magic Your Way dining option, at merchandise locations throughout the Walt Disney World® Resort, to purchase tickets to Cirque du Soleil® La Nouba™, or for that special dinner at Victoria and Albert's, Florida's only five diamond restaurant, or another restaurant that is not on the Magic Your Way dining option.

I'll use ours to upgrade to Park hoppers & for tips since we are on the DDP, we will not need to use it for food other than the occasional snack not on the DDP. I may even get myself an adult beverage or two since I'm not driving anywhere.

You can't use it for prepaid items like the actual DDP cost or the pre-paid photopass because you do not get the card until check-in.

I'll have no problem using up that $500! (we are at a mod - the POFQ)

PS: I just checked & there is more information in the update in this thread:
UPDATED: New Discount Being Released 12-21

Uggg..can't believe I didn't think to use the card to upgarde the park tix to hoppers! Have unused water park options from three years ago. If for some reason they don't work was planning to upgrade tix. Yay, will use GC for that (if needed) and food.

I just changed my buy 4 get 7 to the $750 Gift Card deal, downgrading to 5 days. I'm staying at WL, and was able to book 2 days at the end with the AP room only rate. My last day I will charge to the Gift Card at Check-in.

I basically spent an extra $560 to get a $750 gift card. So basically have an extra $190 to spend. :-)

Booked some extra ADR's right afterward. :-)

I love when a plan comes together!!!

Brian

We'll use ours for food, and then some souveniers. I had the 40% off room rate at WL, but switched to the $750 deal...saves us about $100, maybe a little less, but every bit helps. We're not on the dining plan, have 13 and 14 year old "adults" who are picky eaters, so not it's not worth it to us (yet!), so for 5 days, $750 will be about right. Plus we get some of the package features like arcade tokens and mini golf vouchers (which we didn't use in prior trips, but who knows? :confused3 ). With only 5 days, we're going to try without park hoppers this year, but it's good to know we can use the card to upgrade if we want to!

45 days to go...I can't wait!!! :cheer2:
