How did it go for you? Our family goes on Black Friday every year and this year it was pretty empty while we shopped. Wondering if Thursday was swamped?

I went to the JCPenny sale on Thanksgiving. It was packed but not to bad and I got some great clothes for me and my kids. :)

I went to Target briefly, it was pretty darn packed. There were a few places we couldn't even move, we got blocked in by carts. The checkout was very organized and efficient though, and other areas of the store were not so crowded.

At my local Target it was the least crowded in the last three years. It's always very organized at my Target (very lucky I know) and my friend and I both got what we wanted.

Luckily for me, my family eats our Thanksgiving meal at 12 noon so by 7-8pm I was a little rested and ready to go!

During the day I went to an EMPTY Walgreens then at night to a crowded Target.

Went to Walmart. Got there about 7 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. It was very crowded but found a parking spot quickly. Got a Blue Ray DVD player (LG) for $38 and a 4 piece phone set for $38 too. We only had two items at check out so went to the speedy checkout lane and it took less than 10 minutes.

We did Wal-mart, Target and Best Buy Thanksgiving night. Wal-mart and Target we were there at the start of the deals and they were absolutely packed. Best Buy we didn't go until a couple of hours after the deals had started and it was still crowded, but not totally insane. I can't compare it to past years as I haven't done the Black Friday thing in a long time, but from my perspective it was crazy. I can see why though. I always thought the sales/deals would be around all weekend, but I was at Target yesterday and was surprised to see that the prices had doubled on a lot of the things that were on sale Thursday night and Friday. The prices of most of the stuff in the store we had looked at, or bought Thursday night were significantly higher. It was definitely worth the crowds. But, I will say that when you get caught up in the excitement, you tend to buy more! :rotfl2:

6 AM I went to meijers and 24 k marts, both were empty and sheves were full!
I was very plesently suprised!!!!!!

AND thrilled with my finds!

Went to Kroger and CVS during the day as my wife was sick-both were totally dead.

In the evening I had a BF list, Staples had about 15 people show up at 8, I then went to a Walmart next door with nobody checking out and employees standing around talking as they were bored. I went to a 2nd Walmart to get what the first was out of and it was slightly busier. Kohls was next, they were busy when I arrived around 9:30, but the lines quickly went down to no wait by 10:30. I walked in and right back out at Target, that's where everyone was at.

Round 2 was Friday morning around 5:00, there was nobody out anywhere at that time.

My gut feeling is that stores may try to open around 5-6:00 Thanksgiving evening next year, then may close for 4-5 hours over night, then launch new ads at 4:00-5:00 Friday morning, doubling traffic.

My sister and I lined up at Target around 6:15 with a couple hundred people already in line ahead of us. By the time the doors opened at 8:00, the line snaked through the parking lot. I got everything on my list and my sister got everything but the Apple TV (which wasn't a huge deal anyway). We waited in line about 20-25 minutes, winding through 8-10 aisles, before checking out. We were done by 9:00. The line was really long behind us, though. Then we went to Best Buy, which had been open for several hours already and it was busy but not super crowded and we only had to wait to check out for a few minutes.

Our Walmart was pretty packed on Thanksgiving day. I spent a few hours in there and it got more and more packed the later it got. When we left at 7pm there was a line to get in; I guess they hit max capacity!

Target was not busy at all!! We went around 9pm and it was super quiet in there.

I went to Target at 8pm when they opened, got everything I wanted and checked out by 9pm.

I went to Kohls aross the street which was SO packed. I have gone to this store every year for the past 5 years and NEVER saw it this packed. I ended up waiting on line for 2 hours! I didnt get out of the store until 1am. i will not be going back there next year on thanksgiving night.

I went home and had a tea and bagel then headed to the mall to Macys. Macys was dead and so was the mall (probably because lord and taylor and many other stores did not open till 6am). Was so tired and headed home at 4, took a nap and headed to Petsmart & Michaels at 7am and back to the mall by noon ish (the mall was now INSANE).

We went to Target and it was crazy packed! Most stuff we wanted was long gone by 8:30 and the lines were at least 50 people deep with only 2 lines that fed into about 5 registers. Thankfully we got wind of a special red-card only line that we were able to use. It only took about 20 mins. Then we went to kohls which was stupid busy!! The lines wrapped around the entire store. Managers were saying on the radios they were going to have to extend sale prices on TVs because they predicted 3 hour+lines. Kohls had a special line if you signed up for a credit card that night so my sister did. It still took an hour to check out.

Never ever ever again will I do that! I have been doing Black Friday hardcore for years and it has never been so bad! If they pull this thanksgiving night crap again next year we are out! I honestly think more people were out because it was 8pm vs midnight or 2 am.

I had to work until 11:30 at Cracker Barrel on Thanksgiving night. When we got off my co-worker and I went to Khols about 12 midnight. There was a line from the checkout all the way back to the bathroom at the rear of the store. By the time she got done shopping there was no line at all at the checkout. We then went to the mall about 2 am. It was crowded but not bad at that time. Some stores were not open or just closing. I went to the Disney Store and it was not that bad. My co worker then joined the modern era and gave up her flip top phone for a free iPhone 5 C. So it was a productive day.

Started my venture at 8 pm. I went to Michael's first and it was very quite. I then went over to Sears and got a new set of pots and pans, a pair of sweats and 4 headsets. I wanted a few more things but the pots and pans box was very big and heavy. The regular check out line only had a few people in line but the electronics line wrapped around the whole store. I popped into Toy's R Us and not lot of people there either (they opened at 5 or 6 and by now it was 9:45) Went across the street to the mall. I went to Macy's first and they were mobbed in the shoe department and in housewares. We went to luggage and picked out a set. By the time we decided on which set we wanted the lines were no longer there. Disney Store not busy at all and didn't find anything I wanted. JcPenney not busy at all either. I then stopped at Walmart and Target and they were dead. It was now 2am. So yah way less crowded then I expected.

We went to Walmart at about 6:30. It was crowded but not a mob scene. After that, Target at 8. Most crowded I'd ever seen it! Got some doorbusters, though, and stood in line for about 30 minutes to buy them.

After that, we hit the mall (Macy's and Belk) and they were crowded but not overwhelmingly so.

Got home at about midnight and hit the mall again at 8 the next morning. Totally empty!!

Went to Walmart about 7pm. Crazy busy around the deals that were going on sale at 8pm but packed everywhere else. Got to target at 8:30 and it was no busier than any other weekend. I was shocked!

We went to Walmart for a TV. Got there about 5:30 pm and it was very busy, but spread out. Got the card for the TV and then got some DVDs. We were out of there by 6:30 pm.

Next we went to Old Navy. It was mobbed! I was hoping by the time we were done shopping the lines would have cleared out, but no such luck. By the time we got out of there it was around 11 pm. Kids headed out to the outlet mall and I went home and went to bed.

Got up and to AC Moore around 7 am and was in and out. Store was very quiet. Same for Home Depot and the mall.

I did a lot of my shopping on-line on Thursday. I was able to get almost everything I wanted at the BF prices with free shipping to my door.

How did it go for you? Our family goes on Black Friday every year and this year it was pretty empty while we shopped. Wondering if Thursday was swamped?

Same here. We only go out on Black Friday, and the crowds were very low compared to previous years. Maybe the crowds are going out on Thursday now, and that leaves Black Friday more doable for the rest of us! :thumbsup2

We went to Target at 6:30am Friday morning. Parking lot was almost empty. Scored a couple Blu Ray DVDs - Monsters University ($10), and Arthur Christmas ($9)!! I was afraid those would be sold out on Thursday, but I lucked out. :thumbsup2

Also hit Sears, Home Depot, the mall…..even by lunchtime, the parking lots maybe got to 1/2 full. The mall was the busiest. It turned out to be the most relaxing Black Friday I've ever experienced! And I got everything I wanted. :goodvibes

was out at Meijer 6am Thurs was calm and easy, chased "Turkey" for 3.1 miles in freezing cold. Went and did home care visits, went home and vegged for bit, ate meal, went to bring some food to another home care pt. Headed to walmart and got in DVD line. Checkout was crazy but went fast, Kohl's line looked long, headed to Target but didn't want to wait in freezing cold line was around building, went to bb wasn't to bad, Old Navy was busy but not to bad. Went to get hot krispy Kremes and went home and went night night. Friday headed up to Dad's.
