So, we've seen you debate on the national side. Do you also debate on message boards about politics in your state? City?
Before I owned a home, I never really paid attention to politics on the city/county level. But now that I live in an area that is about to be over-developed, I sure have been paying attention. I helped vote out some of the good ol' boys from Mayor to City Council. Now we have Yuppy represntation, much to the dismay of some of the old-timers in the area.
I love the message board for my city. Everyone on it is very active in the community. But it's so funny how there are a few people who are so vocal against our city councilman. I like the guy. He has been so responsive to all of my emails whining about how awful the parking will be. He has invited me to attend special parking committees (which I was unable to attend due to work). So I continually ask these guys why they don't like him and this is all I hear "beacause,because, because" just a bunch of air.
Tonight I attended my first neighborhood assocation meeting. It was fascinating!! Our city councilman was there (he is such a cutie by the way) and I was really impressed with him. And I know there are people here who think their representatives should do their own thing and not take polls, but I really like the way the guy stood up and said he would approach the issue at hand the way we wanted him to. We elected him to do just that. I like that.
Right now our big issue is stopping a Home Depot from being built in the area. I, along with others don't care either way. We just think the location where they want to put it is dumb. My opinion is, if HD wants to lose $20mil+ building it there, let them. I don't think the city should waste $$$ going to court to fight it when they could fix the streets.
What are your local politics like? Do you let yourself be heard locally as much as you do nationally?
