I am trying to figure out my plans for driving from ct down to orlando in June/July, 2005. I am planning on leaving on 6/29 which is a wednesday. when do you think it would be safe to leave for that morning so that I don't just sit in traffic. Also should I take GW bridge or Tappanzee. Any suggestions or help will be so much appreciated.

Can't help with the bridges question, I'm south of the GWB. Just make sure you hit Washington between 10 and 3.

we drive to florida from new hampshire and we always take the Tappanzee bridge. There is hardly any traffic problems. :D

You must listen to the radio!!!!! Sometimes the GWB is backed up other times the TZB is backed up. I must say though the cross-bronx is brutal, you might try the merrit to the hutch. Again listen to the radio, to get the best route. I've even gone 84 (over the Bear Mountain Bridge) or through Brooklyn-Queens (Verrazano Bridge). You just never know
