did you need a sweater or jacket at night? Also, did it rain enough so that it would be worth bringing down ponchos?

Thanks!

We leave in 4 days...POFQ here we come! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

It rained early last week but the forecasts before we left Sunday called for dry weather for the next few days.

It was cool last week but yesterday it warmed up considerably. It's supposed to be mid-upper 80s this week.

We were there April 28th - May 7th.
We had several days that were very very hot. Several days that it rained. Tuesday, May 3rd it rained a bit in the afternoon, then at 9pm, right when Wishes was starting, it started pouring and kept raining hard for the rest of the night. It was quite an experience watching Wishes with the rain pouring down and everyone in the crowd getting drenched. This massive downpour continued the whole time we were walking back to the buses and walking (or running) from the bus stop to our room at POR. It was warm though, so nobody seemed to mind too much. I drove over to walmart that night to get ponchos for the next day, but we only got a few sprinkles for the rest of our trip.
The only time it actually got cool enough for sweatshirts or jackets was Friday night, May 6th. Considering the variety of weather we had during our 10 days, I'd pack shorts and t-shirts, but bring a poncho and a sweatshirt or light jacket for everyone just in case.

Take it from a native Floridian (yes! I said native! Endangered species, I know…)

ALWAYS be prepared for rain. This is the edge of the tropics, and as the weather gets warmer the daily forecast – every day – goes something like this:

Sunny and warm, chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Why? Because the heat and humidity, combined with an ocean and a gulf on either side of us, create thundertorms faster than you can say “Holy ponchos, Batman!”

So if you plan on going to Disney anytime between May and November, anticipate the very real probability that it is going to rain on you at least once if you are in the area for more than a day or two. Sometimes we go for days, even weeks on occasion, without rain, but then everything catches on fire.  But that is a different story…

As for temps, forecast for this week is typical: lows in the 60s, highs in the 80s. If you are a chilly person you might want a light something in the early morning and at night, but after the sun comes out it warms up quickly and you won’t want anything unless it rains. My DW and I carry a small backpack with rain pants and rain jacket (such as you can get from any golf store) and have them just in case. They can also be used to warm you up just enough in the current weather, and then you put them back in the backpack and only need them again if it rains. They are much easier than ponchos, IMHO, but maybe that’s because I’m a golfer and am used to them. A bucket hat and a golf rain suit is all you ever need for any rain, and much less annoying than a poncho when wet!

We were there 4/30-5/7. There was some rain, but we never got stuck in it. Carried our ponchos everywhere, didn't use them once. (I think carrying them w/ you is good insurance against having to use them!) There were some periods where it was cool. Friday night we went to play mini-golf and wore jeans and sweatshirts. I carried a light-weight jacket a lot of the time and found myself putting it on and taking it off.

we were there April 22 - May 1 and we needed our sweatshirts when we did the extra evening hours as it tended to get cold about 10 pm or so. There were 2 days that we wore our long pants and sweatshirts for almost the whole day, and one day the pools closed even! Ok, that was cause of a typhoon. Bring the rain ponchos. I got 4 of them at Target for less than a buck each. We just tossed them after our trip, no big loss.

And since we came back to IL on May 1st where it was OMG 40 degrees only!! we were happy we had the long pants and sweatshirts for that reason. :rotfl:

We were down there April 29-May 8 and I wore a light-weight jacket almost every night, but I tend to get cold easily. I also wore my jacket in some of the sit down restaurants as they get quite chilly as well. :cold: My DH didn't have a jacket at all and he said he was comfortable every night, maybe you can take a jacket and a poncho with you and keep it in a bag or back pack just in case...
