We are sailing on the Magic on June 29th.

I am getting nervous because I am hearing room 2590 is noisy.

Before I continue; Thanks Dave for all the great information for the rooms to avoid. It is great to have someone to take the time to compile a list.

I should have checked here prior to booking. Unfortunately, we didn't see the list until after we booked. Oh well...

Anyway, I was looking for additional comments on the room (not that I don't believe you Dave ;)). I have heard that 2594 IS really bad and 2088 across on the port side isn't. Are the starboard rooms worse in that area of the ship?

I am a bit concerned because I did ask MS if this was a noisy room and that I wanted to ensure that we weren't in one. They assure me it was quiet and there wasn't a club above it and we will be thrilled. The guy was probably as deaf as a haddock...

I have a feeling that we will be SOL and be stuck with this room if it is THAT bad. Due to the lateness and the holiday week.

Sort of a bummer... it will be the first time my family will sail and I really wanted it to be special... :(

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Regardless, we will make the most of it. :D

we were on the Magic may 4-11 and we initially had room 2650. We booked cat 9 gty and didn't find out our room number until docs arrived. this room was listed as a noisy one on Dave's list and....unfortunately....he was right. It was noisy, but what was worse was the vibration. I had a splitting headache that first night and than we switched to 2604.

This room was great but as I recall we were in a quiet pocket of rooms, with a noisy section on either side of this section. So......I hate to say it but I'm afraid that Dave is right about your room yet again!!

If you can switch before you go, you can always ask at guest services if you find that the room is really bad. We had a great experience with switching rooms, even though there was a sign on the desk that said room changes were not available as the ship was full (apparently there was a last minute cancellation). Just be nice about it!!!! ....it worked for DH! His charm got us a room but the second night!

Happy Cruising!
Helen.

I am going to try and switch today.

Do you think the vibration in 2650 was due to the closer location to the stern? I know... I am grasping.

Do they usually put a couple rooms aside for situations such as this?

Also, what are your thoughts for an approach when I call MS. Of course I will be extremely courteous and express my concerns based on experience of other cruisers, let them know it is our first time cruising and we want to enjoy, yadda yadda. Finally wrapping it up with a polite request for another cabin not on Dave's list. We booked the cruise on our DVC points. At the time of booking they only indicated there were only two cabins with a view, no verandas etc.

As I am typing this I realize that all people that cruise first time or their 100th want a nice cabin and don't want to be stressed by noise or vibration. So I understand that someone will be in these cabins. It almost seems as if there is legitimately a noise and/or vibration issue with the rooms, they should be considered a reduced class. Again, we are newbies to cruising so if this is a silly statement, many apologies in advance.

We are thrilled to be going and can't wait regardless. If it is noisy we will be forced to have just one more drink of the day :D. Auuhh poor me ;)

Not a silly question: Member Services.

I just called. They are completely booked. I expressed my concerns and they thought I was crazy. Oh well. We will see how it goes. If there is a question at the time, we will ask then.

I spoke with my wife briefly about it and she is fine about it. :D

We are spending four days prior @ VWL too!

1 Month to set sail, we can't wait!!!!! :bounce:

Mickbee, yes, the vibration that far aft would have to be because you're very close to the screws (a.k.a. propellors). And don't be put off by MS thinking you're crazy. They've obviously never been back there when the ship's at sea.

Dave, very true.

I'll be sure to post upon our return.

I look at this on a bright side; the icebergs don't hit that far back on the ship... :D Booooooo... get the hook! ;)

Thanks for all of the help!

On our 7/28/01 cruise -we stayed in 2583 and my parents were in 2585, and 2 other parties in our group in 2581 & 2579 - and had no trouble with noise -- I 'm not sure if these rooms are on Dave list - but I honestly don't remember any noise. If anything it was while docking in the AM - and not so early that we were still sleeping.

I would hope that if it is so noisy that it keeps you awake - DCL would accomodate - but most of the time you are in the cabin is at night - to sleep - and the ship is moving - so the most I remember was a hum -- kind of like a white noise machine?? -

Just trying to sound hopeful here - maybe you can bring those foam earplugs like we did - "just in case" - they worked great for us because we - Never - had to use them -- kinda like an umbrella -- if you don't have one it will down-pour - but when you lug it around with you -there is only sunshine!! Good luck - and best wishes for a MAGICAL CRUISE!
