Is having only the boat to go from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom a good thing or is it too slow/long wait?
Thanks for any input.

If you are in a hurry and running late the boat can seem slow but a bus wouldn't be any better. the times that I have used the boat it has always been fine but I am usually way ahead of schedule. I would allow at leats half an hour to get from your room to the dock, wait for the boat, board and get over to the MK. If it comes as your walking up the dock, all the better.

We have stayed there twice (always off-season) and the boat is great. It comes frequently and is a nice relaxing ride over and back. Can't speak for peak :crowded: periods however.

to be quite slow. The boats are small - not many people fit in at a time.
We weren't impressed with the boat service at all.

I was there over Easter week. There was a bus to MK also. We never used the bus just prefer the boat. We only used the bus to AK and MGM. We didn't have long waits or crowds on the boat. But we are not the type that must be at the park openings (even Easter week). There may have been more crowds and waiting at peak times.

I personally did not like the boat to the MK. It is a nice relaxing ride there but it takes to long for me. I am used to the monorail resorts and will stick to them from now on. The transportation is just easier for us at those resorts.

I found the boats to be great. Never had a longer than 5/10 minute wait. The buses were fine too..

I thought the boat was a bit slow as well. The way back it stopped at Wilderness Cabins and it seemed to take forever.

No big deal for us becuase we only go the the MK once per trip, but if you are going a lot you may want to consider staying elsewhere.

It probably depends on time of year now how busy things are. We were there the second week of May and found the boats to be VERY quick and never full. They were so quick that boats often were waiting for another one to leave so they could pull up. We never waited more than 1 minute or so for a boat.

Our one exp with a bus was beyond frustrating.

If you don't like the boat, there is a direct bus to MK.

No, we didn't find the boats slow at all. They were wonderful and never crowded (except for after the fireworks, when everything was crowded!*LOL*). Besides the large green boat, there is the smaller blue boat that goes WL/CR/FW. It runs 6:45am - 10pm and there are generally 2 running, 1 clockwise and 1 counterclockwise. The ride from WL to CR is less than 5 minutes. You can take this and walk or monorail to MK.

We were also there over Easter and didn't experience any waits for the boat. It was a very relaxing ride to and from and only one or two times was it very crowded.

We were there during spring break and we loved the boat rides to MK. Our kids love monorail so sometimes we take the boat to Contemporary and catch the monorail to MK or Epcot. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes and the boat was never full capacity which was surprising consider parks were wall to wall of people. We spent three nights in AKL prior to WL and we had waited almost always more than 20 minutes for the bus.

:cool1:

The boat ride takes about 10 minutes from the WL to MK before 3:00 pm. After 3:00 the boats go from WL to FW to MK and back to WL. Before 3:00 it is WL to MK to FW and then WL.

The boat lets you off close to the main entrance to the MK.

We were ther in April. Didn't notice a big time difference between the boat and bus but it got chilly and windy while we were there and the bus was alot warmer and dryer!!

We're not a big fan of any of the transpration at the WL. We have only stayed there during the summer though. We would have to wait for ever for either. OR we would have to stop at other resorts and it would add so much time. We decided against Wl this trip b/c we will have our 15mth DS and didn't want to deal with it. That's just my 2 cents. I want to add though that we do LOVE the WL and will stay there again. Just not w/ a little one.

My children LOVED taking the boat to MK, CR, and FW. It was so pleasant! We got to see some of Wishes from the baot as we were leaving MK a couple nights.

Like anything else, it depends. Everyone seems to have a different experience. When we were there this past March the boat service was great, we never waited long, it wasn't crowded, and we enjoyed the ride. This will vary depending on crowds, etc.

ENJOY!!!

I found the boat to be no slower than the bus and much more pleasant. It was never very crowded and we were there in the middle of July.

We stayed in 8/02 and had no problem w/the boat. I don't recall taking the bus at all. I had some concerns before our arrival based on all the different posts about the transportion. But like I said, we had no problem..one night the electric parade was going on while we were on the boat too :sunny:
You'll have a great time either way :flower:

I was at WL in 8/03 with dh and our dds, 7 and 9. I loved the boat. Perhaps it is because I took public transportation around Boston for years and the buses remind me of that. I liked seeing how everything looked from the water. One of the best pics I have was on the dock with my dds feeding the ducks. I thought WL looked spectacular at night when we pulled in.
