DH and I are going ALONE and are trying to decide between the two.POR has a king bed available and CSR has double beds only left, but, even though I would love the king bed this is not an issue.I'm looking for the most quiet and romantic one.I'm leaning towards POR because it just seems to look more cozy, but, I have heard so many wonderful things about CSR  .We want to tone down this vacation,go to MVMCP,Cirque and go christmas shopping. We want to relax :love2: !!!
We are going from Dec 1-4,so, we have to decide soon!!!!!!:jumping1:

Are you talking about 2003? If so, you may find availability onsite at WDW very limited. From what I've read many of the resorts are near capacity. That said, I would call immediately to check on availability for these dates.

Between the two choices, I would go with CSR. My DW and I loved the hammocks on the "beach" and the quiet pools. It's a great place to take moonlight strolls by the water and the bus transportation was very good.

Both places are wonderful. I think the Cabanas at CSR are sort of Romantic. The Ranchos maybe a little less but they are very quiet. I like the semi tropical feel of CSR. If the weather is cool though I think ROR would match better. Alligator bayou is semi secluded and quiet. The Mansion homes really make you feel like you are staying at someones estate. I would think the POR is a bit more traditional feeling for Christmas.

I've stayed at both but just don't care for CSR. The theme is just not my taste. If you want to shop POR also has the boat to DTD which I really like.

I have stayed at both CSR and just recently POR. As a matter of fact, it was only DH and myself at POR. We picked POR thinking it would be a more relaxed and romantic resort. It most definitely was! Very quiet and pretty. I was told to request the mansion side as there seems to be less children since a lot of families need the extra bed the bayou side offers. CSR is also nice, but not as quiet, IMO.

If you stay at POR please try and see Bob, AKA the piano man, at the lounge one night. I think he is there Wednesday through Saturday night. Have a drink and join in on the fun!

Between the two I would definitely choose POR. The food court is great, good restaurant, boat to DTD, even entertainment at night(Bob) and the grounds are beautiful.

CSR hosts business conventions, and may be considered more 'adult' in setting, although the playground at the Dig Site is the best anywhere on property (per Mrs. Ambassador and the delegation). Opt for the Cabanas with a water-view.

The direct boat connection to Downtown Disney from POR is better than gondola service in Venice. Alligator Bayou is cozy and intimate.

I think given your requirements, I would choose POR.

My favorite moderate resort is POR. I promise you that you and DH will absolutely LOVE it!!! My DH and I love everything about it, the pools, restaurants, and rooms. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Hope this helps:D

I've stayed at both and found CSR quieter of the two. Request the Ranchos for total peace and quiet. I saw more children at POR than CSR. I find convention hotels the best for a more adult atmosphere.

Look at what I learned to do!

I think that both are great choices and it will come down to what your taste is or what you want out of the trip. I personally love POR but only the mansions. I love the look of the plantation homes on the river and the beautiful courtyards in each building. The rooms are romantic, we had a waterview in Oak Manor this last trip and I fell in love with it. It was so perfect! I love the boat ride to DTD and it would be perfect for the shopping that you wanted to do. It was so romantic to walk to along the river to the main building each day, it made me sooo happy!! The food court, lounge, store and the restaraunt are also wonderful. However, I also like CSR. It is like a mexian sort of theming to me and it can also be romatic if that is what you are looking for or that is your personal taste. I think you will have a wonderful trip at either one. Have a great trip and let us know what you decide.

We have stayed at both and liked CSR much better. Like others saod, we love the hammock and the walk around the resort is very romantic at night.

DH and I stayed in POR on honeymoon in 1999 - we were in the mansion houses - and loved it. However we were there the 1st week in December and I remember it being full of cheerleaders and football players. We were woken up a couple of times early morning with cheerleading practice which seemed to take place either all over the grounds or in the car parks! It didn't put us off though - all the resorts were the same. Loved the whole theming of POR and enjoyed the boat trips to DTD. Very romantic.
We've also stayed in CSR this past September - loved this one too!! The theming was great - we were in the Casitas and loved the walks through the little courtyards. The resort didn't seem to be that busy - even when we went back for an afternoon swim you could always find a quiet spot. My only gripe was that hot chocolate was not included in the unlimited refills!! After a quiet word with the restaurant manager that problem was sorted out!!!
In my opinion - you'll not be sorry with either option - go with theming that appeals most to you. OR - split your stay and stay 2 nights at each. :p

I prefer POR. I found it to be quieter, and pretty--more in keeping with the December time, than CSR. I just didn't care for CSR, but loved POR. We went to CSR in Dec. and POR in Oct.

POR is my fav moderate. Ive been there twice in December and its beautiful. I love the mansions, specifically Oak Manor. I also love renting a bike and exploring the entire resort and into French Quarter. The Piano Man in the lounge at night is fun. Boatwrights restaurant was very good and the food court is a winner.

Have a great time, no matter where you go..

Hands down POR!

I just didn't like CSR. I didn't like the room. I didn't like the food court. The CM's in the shop were rude. The room was not quiet. The room was not clean. We found a lizard in our bed one night.

We loved POR! We were in MB and loved our room! POR was much quieter. The room was always cleaned every day. The food court was 10 times better!!! Every CM that I dealt with at POR was outstanding!
