for those who have stayed AKL standard view

How did you feel about paying for a Deluxe resort room that did not have a view of the animals? I'm wondering if it is a let down to stay at the AKL with a standard view because you can't see the animals from your room or is it NOT a let down because you are still at a great resort? I guess I want to know if you get your money's worth in an AKL standard room, since the whole point of the resort is to be able to see the animals and in a standard room you don't get this.

You will still see plenty of animals. they have windows everywhere you go looking out to the savanah. I't still very worth it to go in in my PO. I need to change my countdown. I just booked us at AKL with my Ap yesterday for our Jan 05 trip.


Yes I did book a standard view. Same view I had last year.

I stayed at AKL in a standard room in August and loved it. I had plenty of chances to see the animals outside of my room at the resort. It was worth the savings to me to be in a standard room, especially since I don't spend a lot of time in my room anyway. AKL is great. You'll love it.

We stayed there last year. Reserved Standard View, but were upgraded to Pool View.

I loved the resort's atmosphere, even though we didn't have a savannah view. Like everyone else has said, just take a little walk down the hall and you'll see plenty of animals. Go out at night and watch them through the night vision goggles (very cool). Sit at one of the overlooks off of the lobby, have a drink, and watch the animals.

The resort has good dining options (in my opinion, others feel the food is too exotic). It's beautifully decorated. The pool is nice. And if you get it at a discounted rate, I think it's a pretty good deal.

The downside of the resort (at least for me)?? It's location. I have small children who like the MK the best, so until they get a little older, we will be staying in the MK resort area.

We stayed in a standard room at AKL about a year ago with twin babies. Therefore, we were in our room quite a bit and did not enjoy our standard view. On the other hand, before we had kids, we never minded a standard view room at all because we were never in our room.

So I guess it just depends on how much time you'll be spending in your room. As people have said, there are lots of other places to view the animals at the resort.

AKL is a beautiful resort with great restaurants. But if we stay there again, we will probably book a savannah room. But that is just because of our situation. Yours may be totally different.
