Since I've had to cancel our trip to WDW Poly that was for last week of Sept, I'm now looking to go to WDW for Xmas.
For those who have gone to WDW for/around Xmas' do you think I would be crazy to go during this time? I'm looking at going either from 12/19 - 12/27 or
12/12 - 12/20 (staying at Poly). I'm trying to stay w/ value season and unfortunately my heart is set on staying at Poly and they are booked solid from late Nov to early Dec due to conventions.
This is mine and dd(7) first time to WDW. The good news is that I would be able to exchange our Halloween party tickets for the Xmas party and just pay the difference.
Alos, does anyone ever attempt to do any swimming in the heated pool(s) during this time?

We stayed at Poly that week a few years ago and had a great time. Except for the chilly nights which cancelled the luau and made Fantasmic a little more invigorating than I would have liked. Use your Fast Passes wisely and you'll have no problem.
The kids were all in the pools, but it was pretty cool outside-however, that was just the week we were there. Florida can be pretty warm in December during the day, you might get lucky.

I would definitely choose 12/12-20, I think the crowds won't be as bad as over the Christmas holiday, and the week between Christmas and New Year's.

XMAS is a great time to be at Disney!! It is not as hot, and that makes things so much nicer. The week after xmas is busier than the week before, but I think the 23 of Dec starts extended hours. As for swimming, it all depends on what the weather is while you are there, when I was there on new years in '04 it was in the 80s most of the time and the pool would have been fine. xmas will have all the neat decorations up and it is really nice. Have fun!!

We were at WDW for a few days after Christmas - but never again. It was waaaay too crowded for us. There were many, many teenage kids there in large groups. Assume there was some sort of sports competetion, etc.

We are trying January for the first time for our next trip - Jan 2007.

By all means go from 12/12 - 12/20. Crowds should be fine and all the decorations are up. The only drawback is that the parks don't stay open late.

By all means, if you can help it DO NOT go 12/19 - 12-27. The place will be a zoo from the 22nd on.

We love the holiday time in Disney, but usually go early December. We have gone around Christmas a few times since our friends kids could only get out of school during those times. The place is packed. With that said, as long as you know it and know you are not going to get right onto the rides, you'll be OK. We never go at that time unless we have to and we live here.

enjoy,
Duane

Christmas is a beautiful time of year to go. We always say, you haven't seen Christmas till you've seen it at Disney. However, I would pick the 12/12 to 12/20 dates. Like the OP have said, the crowds will be less then, then during Christmas week. The Poly is great. We're very big Poly people. Before we bought DVC, it was the only place we wanted to stay. It will always be one of our favorites. Have a great time.

I think it will be a wonderful time to be there and I have heard the week before is not as crowded. We are going Dec 15-22 and I believe are getting out right when the big crowds roll in. :dance3:
