How long of a ride is it to get from the Tampa airport to WDW? We usually fly into MCO mid morning and my kids will fall asleep as soon as we get into our rental car. If the prices are cheaper, I am debating flying into Tampa and they can just nap during the car ride from the airport to Disney.

Has anyone flown into Tampa? And how long did it take you to get to Disney?

I was interested in the answer to that so I Mapquested it. I put in Tampa Airport and Pop Century address and it says 1hr 20min. So I would think that 2hrs max if you hit rush hour in Tampa. I would suggest renting from Alamo if you're only renting for the one way drive.

We've done this several times and its about 75 minutes from TPA to WDW assuming you arrive there at mid-morning as well. Its an easy drive, once you find your way out of the airport and onto the interstate.

About 75 minutes is our experience as well. We find this is a great option if you're planning to rent a car anyway. Tampa is a less crowded airport and sometimes less expensive than MCO.

We've had the same experiene with Tampa - 75 minutes/easy drive. We usually have a rental car so we always consider Tampa. I got $99 flights for our recent February school vacation trip when the flights out of Orlando were $150-$200.

75 minutes Tampa to WL if I'm driving. 60 minutes if you're my DH. ;) We flew into Tampa last August and liked it so much I think we'll be sticking with it over MCO or Sanford in future. :thumbsup2

We routinely stay at the Doubletree on N Rocky Point Dr in Tampa...it's about 10 mins from the airport..at least it was before they finished all the highway work there. We were there last weekend...loving the new roadways!!! It took us just about 75 mins to get from the Doubletree to the TTC...it was about 7am, and we arrived by 8:20ish....I figure it took us a bit longer since we were a bit further away. Very easy drive.

I agree Tampa is a great airport. So is St.Petersburgh Clearwater airport as well. We flew into there for the first time this year during March break. A 75 minute drive over to Orlando is about right.

I make it at just over an hour. So maybe 30-40 minutes more than the time it takes to get from MCO. Plus I find the luggage to be quicker and rental car lines to be shorter.

We like it.

:laughing:beat me to it

for those taking a flight out of TPA, I suggest avoiding rush hour. Thought the pm was bad until we drove down to busch gardens last year from disney in the am. My husband has a CDL from past job and even he said it was hairy experience.
