WE weren't planning on going to the AP renewal celebration event because of work, so I didn't register. The project dates have changed and I can now attend the event. I went to register and it's closed. Do they open it up later for more registrations? If people cancel would there be an opening for registration? What a bummer!

It honestly has never closed so quickly, if at all. I'm pretty sure it has been open the entire window for registration so they must have significantly, like, SIGNIFICANTLY, reduced capacity or it's an error....

I know people were excited about it being at Disneyland this time + the holidays but I'm so surprised it closed so early too. I could've registered this morning but have friends getting their annual passes next week and I wanted to wait to register us all together since you can't add guests later.

It's RIDICULOUS that it closed so early. Why even advertise it at all if they are going to have such a low capacity?!

What makes everyone think reduced capacity is the reason it closed so early? Maybe it just filled really quickly.

I could be wrong, but I assumed the fact that the Nov party is being held in Disneyland instead of DCA provided a pretty good hint at the kind of crowds they're expecting. I bet Dec/Jan are among the most common expiration dates for AP's, and I bet the party will be packed!

Once submitted you can't make any changes to your registration, so I'd say no to spots opening because of cancellations. :sad1:

Of course all that said... it could be an error, or they could open more spots, you just never know.

I don't think it was necessarily reduced compared to other events...but if it filled up in less than a day, then the capacity was way too low to begin with.

Truthfully, I think if they made the event smaller....it's a good thing...more intimate, hopefully less lines for things.

It's an *exclusive* event for those lucky enough to have an AP... and I have no problem with that...I pay to have that privilege.

This sounds like fun! The event will be happening while we're at DL. We just bought APs, though. Pretty sure that it's for people renewing, not for folks like me who just bought them and will be activating them this week.

The past three AP celebrations have been exclusive to APs, same as this one. All were decently crowded, but none filled up in a day, not even the entire two week registration period. The people complaining about not being able to registered paid for that privilege, same as you.

Something must be very different about how they planned this one, and for registration to fill up in 8ish hours my guess is they only plan to have one or two lands open.

I suggest writing Disney and complaining that they opened registration on a weekday when many people work. You never know how they will respond.
Were they encouraging people to go online while at work? Lots of people don't have internet access on their phones either.
Even San Diego Comic-Con has registration on weekends and most people who attend are younger without jobs.
That said; it would be odd if they filled to capacity that quickly on a work day. But it is possible. Just sad they would do it on a weekday.

How packed can it be? We have never been.

How many of these do they do in year? I know of at least 2. Are there really that many AP holders? And of those AP holders how many can attend? Do they share the event with another group of some kind?

When I said packed I wasn't envisioning NYE capacity crowds, but I think Disney does like to have a nice full park, even for limited attendance events. Have you attended any other space available events at Disney? I imagine it will be much the same.

I think these parties are a fairly new thing, not sure how many they've done, or are planning to do.

Yes to the are there really that many AP holders question. I don't know that Disney releases exact numbers, but ESTIMATES are that there were fewer than 100,000 in the mid-90’s, and there are around 1 million now.

No idea how many can/will attend.

I don't think they share the event with any another group since it's a party for AP holders. But every invited AP holder (with a pass expiring in whatever the window for that event is) can add 5 extra people to their reservation, so I imagine numbers can add up quickly!

On the Facebook AP page they are helping people who could not previously register. Go check it out!
:thumbsup2
