From what I have read there is something you need to focus on or you might get sick. My 2 older children did what the CM told them and they still got a little sick (unusual for them). Youngest DS could never do this. He has Down Syndrome and that's why I sent the other 2 on first but I didn't like the results;) So I am trying to gather more info. He LOVES this kind of stuff but I wouldn't want to make him sick:o

How many of you got sick on this ride? Was it because of something unavoidable?

Thanks!! Sorry so long I am having a hard time explaining myself this morn.:(

I'm a person who can not handle those Tea Cups, so I made sure I kept my head back and my eyes directly ahead on the screen right in front of me. I felt a little disoriented after riding the first time, my husband confirmed the screen seemed a little blurred, so it wasn't just me. The sensation is close to that watching the 360 film at Canada or China in World Showcase. I found it helped to use the joystick and "steer" the directions when you're "landing" on Mars. Don't have an empty stomach, but let at least half an hour pass after your last meal.

The second and third times I rode it I enjoyed it more, the G force had bothered me more than anything. It helped to be prepared. My DH and all DD's--11,13 and 16 loved it!

Thank you for your reply, I just don't think my son would be able to focus. He does LOVE all kinds of rides and ahs never been sick before, sooo I am just gonna have to get on first and check it out:(

My family rode this last week. We all focused straight ahead & used the joysticks (I don't know if this helped). No one in our group of 4 got sick at all.

I have a couple of questions. (I hope they are not silly) . When you explain that you use a joystick what exactly does that do? Are you controlling the ride so you can make yourself less dizzy?
How bad are the "G" forces and what kind of feeling did you get?

One of the CMs explained it to me like this. He said that to avoid getting sick/dizzy on the ride you need to keep your eyes on the screen. That will "trick" your inner ear to believing that you are experiencing what you see on the screen. If you close your eyes or look around then you will no longer be tricking your inner ear and you will know exactly where you are. You will feel yourself spinning and will get dizzy.
So, I would say that if your DS is not able to keep his eyes on the screen, chances are that he will become dizzy. Your best bet is to ride first and see what you think.
From what I can remember, I only used the joysticks toward the end of the ride, but it didn't seem as if I was "controlling" the ride. But, hey, I could be wrong!

If it's some kind of screen right in front of you that you need to focus on we are all set that he can do. Also, if I know what to tell him ahead of time I can get him ready

Thanks so much!!

Thanks for posting the info about not closing your eyes, disneymom! I'm hoping to ride it w/my new DH for our honeymoon trip in August and I figured if I was getting dizzy, I would close my eyes. Won't do that now!;)

Each person in the "pod" has their own screen and own controls. Try to keep your head back on the headrest. That will also help keep you from getting dizzy.
I was a little nervous before getting on because the teacups make me extremely dizzy. But after the advice from the CM, it was a piece of cake! (And very fun). I'll have to admit, I was tempted to close my eyes during the launch, but resisted the temptation and was fine. Next trip, I will definately do Mission Space again!:)

O-K, then what? Don't want to spoil it, but what will we/should we be looking at? Is there lots going on, or can you pick a focal point! I still think I'm going in prepped with Bonine! Natt
