For those who fly into LAX via Southwest

Never been to California in my life. How far is it from the gates to the baggage area where you get picked up by Express or Lansky?
My wife works for TSA and has been told horror stories (as well as I have) about the numbingly slow baggage retrieval that LAX has. So we're bringing carry on luggage as well as each of us having a backpack with all our stuff in it so we can avoid the retrieval.
Our arrival time is the same time Express' pick up so we'd be waiting at the airport for a hour. But how long "really" would that be based on the time it takes to get to the pickup area. I don't want to be waiting for a hour when we can take Lansky and get to our hotel a lot sooner.

I would give yourself at least 30 minutes. It can be a hike from the gates to baggage claim. You will also want to stop at the bathrooms on the way, because the drive will be about 90 minutes depending on traffic.

I've flown into LAX on SW many times. It is a bit of a hike. There's also a ton of construction going on. I'd say 30 mins from touch down to baggage area is a good rule of thumb. Might not take you quite that long (depending on what time you land and how crowded the airport is), but better safe than sorry.

Shouldn't take you 30 minutes (we just flew in on SW at LAX a couple of weeks ago) unless your at the back of the plane But, doesn't hurt to pad your time.

Not to hijack your post (no pun intended), how long is the drive from DL to LAX on a Monday to pick up someone around 11:00 a.m.?

Just be aware that the Express bus stops at every island in LAX. It takes 30 mins from the 1st stop to the last. They do say it on their site. I personally won't ever take it again because it felt like a HUGE time waster to be at the airport, on the bus, not even going anywhere for 30 mins.

You can use Google maps and selected "depart at" to get drive info at certain times. Looks like 40 mins to and hour

I’ve been checking in the morning for the days of our trip and the average time from lax to dlr is 45 min.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. Trying to finalize if we’re going to do express or lansky. The price difference round trip is $100 ($150 for express, $250 for lansky...not including tip). We arrive at 850 and the bus leaves from our terminal at the 50 minute mark. So we wouldn’t be waiting around too long.

I don’t think the extra $150-ish to gain an extra maybe hour or two would be worth it.
