Got mine a week ago, after emailing Mile Oak and asking if the book would be available in bookstores on the 19th of October--two days after it it supposedly published and the day we leave Florida. Dave himself emailed me back within an hour to tell me I was in luck; his mail order customers get the book a month early. I was highly impressed with the customer service. Then again, I'm highly impressed with the book. I wish other Interstates (besides 95) got the same treatment. We're going down 79/77 through the Carolinas and I'd love to have a travelogue like Along I-75...

Could anyone tell me the difference from this book to the CAA triptix? I can get triptix for free which outline my travel south and then return. They mark all lodging, gas stations, rest stops along the way also.

Colored maps with all services, local information, secrets and "insider tips" mile-by-mile on I-75 between Detroit and the Florida border.
This book doesn't just mark lodging, gas stations, and rest stops, it tells you exactly which gas station, restaurant and hotel chains are at each exit so you can plan a stop based on where you like to eat, get gas or which motel to stay at for the night. It describes the landmarks that you see as you are driving as well as what is off the beaten track if you are inclined to leave the interstate. It lists golf courses, RV parks, campgrounds, radio stations, 1-800 numbers to hotels, maps of alternate routes and bypasses, and where and when you might run into heavy traffic because of rush hour. The book tells you what to do if you need auto repair. This year they have added GPS information for people using a GPS. Each page has a 25 mile map that clearly shows the speed limits.
I wouldn't drive to Florida along I-75 without it.

I heartily second MaryannF's recommendation. Other things in there: the usual location of speed traps; lane navigation that turned me from a crappy navigator ("uh, I think we should have turned back there" to "in three miles you're going to want to be in the left lane"). We followed his motel chain advice on the way down and stayed at a Jameson Inn--and were so satisfied that we immediately booked a different one for the return trip. I see this year he's discovered Drury Inns, which are, if anything, even better.
You can trust his "Insider Tips"--he keeps trying them out year after year, dropping the ones that have declined.
I just found the trip seemed to go by so much faster with that book.

A third recommendation to add to MaryannF's and Ken_Breadbox. I've already ordered my current one for December along with the FL Expressways issue since we'll be visiting my parents near Sarasota as well. We're not even bothering with a TripTik this year.

DH also LOVES my navigation skills now - I was also a "Hmm, I think we missed that last exit back there" kinda gal.

Thanks everyone for the feedback it is greatly appreciated. Our first trip south we will be very prepared.
