I just got 2 Disney 1-day tickets for $25!!
Yeah...2 of em...$25 total..
I'm pretty happy :goodvibes
They will be grandmas tickets when we get there!!

found the deal through hotelscorp.com

Do you have to schedule a visit or just listen to a promo when you called to order?

nah...I gotta visit their 90 minute tour...
but...it doesnt phase me much...

We didn't get a good deal on tickets but that is how we are getting a good deal on our room. We are staying at Orange lake. Have to listen to them but get 4 days/night for $180 ish. Not like staying on property BUT it will help us get there at least.

Westgate is supposed to have the worst, most high pressure sales tour. You will be darn lucky to get out of there in 90 minutes.

I heard that too. We did do a westgate tour back in 97. I believe that if we could survive that any other one will be a piece of cake. Plus I have my son now who LOVES to talk to the point of being obnoxious. I think I would just let him go ahead and do what he does best. That being said I don't think that I will ever do a westgate tour again.

OP are all the ones offered on that website through westgate? We will have some free time and I would love to do a tour for tickets and reduced accommodations.

1) My neighbor works for Westgate.
2) And, you betchya they are high pressure.
3) Just keep saying "no".
4) 90 minutes of time, or so, is awfully cheap for tickets.

NOTE: By Florida law, if the presentation is listed as 90-minutes to get your prize, you can terminate the meeting at 90-minutes. Of course, they can go on-and-on-and-on if you let them. If they don't stop at 90-minutes and give you the tickets when you ask, tell them you are going to the regulators. Bingo!

I have read this lots of time,, about the 90 minute law in florida, but have not found anything in their times share laws..... nor has anyone provided the statute(?) number etc.
I am beginning to think its a myth :confused3

anyone have the info?

Man, that deal wouldn't be good enough for me to take a Westgate tour again. They were SHARKS. The best piece of advise I have is to tell them upfront that you are there for the goodies and that you are not interested in buying. Tell them they have 90 minutes of your time and no more. Any other communication you have with them only makes them take longer. Don't chat and don't ask questions. Keep an eye on your watch and let them know when they have 30 minutes to wrap up and you MIGHT get out within 2 hours.

I have done plenty of timeshare presentations (including one in Hawaii where the salesperson accused me of taking the food out her son's mouth because I booked the presentation with no interest in buying) but NOTHING would make me do Westgate again.

How about bringing a kitchen timer, setting it to 90 minutes and tell them that when it goes off you are leaving. That might show them how serious you are about the 90 minutes.

lol..I wish I could be so upfront as carry a timer!!! What I should do is take the babies with me (15m and 6 weeks)... that'll prolly wanna make them stop at the 90 minutes!!!
I've done westgate before...I dont recall them being any more high pressure than any of the others.. in fact, I bought into Wyndham for a trial 2 yrs because I guess I'm gulliable and they were good.. LOL.. But, honestly, I loved having it.. but let it go last year...
Anyways.... like someone else said.. the cost of the tickets is worth it to me :)

I did a "tour" and I mentioned the 90 minute time limit. They said "it says approximately 90 minutes and you are welcome to leave now and pay for your hotel." They kept us for 2 1/2 hours and I said this is enough and we left with our goodies. FINALLY

There is actually the way they are trained. It's something like this:

1) Engage you in small talk before they even bring you into the presentation-waste time.
2) Tell you about themselves-to make you see them as being like you.
3) Tell you about a problem of theirs-so they can bring it up later and use it against you.
4) then they get into the hard sell.
5) When you say No they start bringing up all the stuff they "shared" to make you feel bad.

You cannot believe how much they try to mess with your mind.

You have to go in and have a real backbone and that's the only way you can get out with your goodies and not feeling terrible.

A friend of mine does use the timer trick and you cannot believe how well it works for him. I would go as far as saying he does the timeshare "circuit" -lol.

I just bought a timeshare at orange lakes. It is absoulty lovley. My children didn't want to leave the site to go to the parks(seaworld and disney). There was so much to do right on site. They have their own lazy river. the salesman was not pushy in the bit.

This wasn't at Westgate, this was at the Hilton Waikoloa Village and I don't think that that particular organization would have approved of her tactics. I had been on presentations with them before and they had always been classy and polite. This salesperson actually pointed to the photo of her son and told me that that she was a single mother who works to feed her son I was wasting her time that she could have used with a client who might have been interested in buying. That was about an hour into the presentation after I told her that we were not interested within the first 5 minutes and that we had tons of Hilton Honors points and we already owned a timeshare (DVC). She then left us in the room for about 15 minutes to "stew". I didn't feel terrible for her, but I was quite angry that she tried that crap with us as I didn't expect it from such a high class operation. She was openly angry with us when she escorted us out of the sales center and I came thisclose to reporting her to her manager, but my husband just wanted out of there.

You are 100% right that you need a strong backbone when dealing with these salespeople. You need to be able to say "no" again and again. Be nice and polite, but know that the salesperson is not your friend. They just want your money. Also know that if you should fall in love with a timeshare you can almost always buy it for much less on the resale market ... this includes DVC :).
