How do you do the summer? We might do a few magic mornings, but the majority will be starting later. My mother also can't take much heat, so she will get started around 4 and we will stay late. I have a feeling that during the summer, the crowds do not go down much at night. Is that true?

The exact opposite is true...the crowds are heavy at the parks later in the day and into the evening...especially in the Summer.

If you want to avoid the heat and crowds, you've just got to get to the parks 30 minutes before opening and leave around 11:30 AM for a break and/or nap. THIS IS KEY!! Trust me!

Go back around dinnertime for food, evening entertainment and the less popular attractions. The evenings right up until 10 PM don't provide much relief from the heat with all the humidity in the Summer. Keep water on you at all times and take breaks in the shade or theater attractions if you are touring in the sun with someone that has a hard time with the heat. If you get thirsty, you've waited too long to hyhdrate yourself in that type of weather.

Jusgt my .02 cents...good luck and have fun out there.

And I would say that 3-4 PM in the summer is about the hottest time of day. I am very heat intolerant and I don't go in the summer, but even when I go in April or September (generally the hottest months I can tolerate Disney), I go LATE in the afternoon--we will go to the parks for dinner at 4:30 or 5:00, and by the time we get out of the restaurant at 5:30-6:30, it's cooled off a bit.

I'm also not a morning person so we don't go to the parks very early at any time of year (maybe 9:30-10:00 AM at the earliest), but if you're going during hot weather, very early or very late (before 10:30 AM and after 6:00 PM) are, to me, the only tolerable times.

We just got back from our trip last week where I had to promise DH and DS that they didn't have to get up early...and it worked fine.

I only scheduled 3 PS/ADR for no earlier than noon and only then because the boys wanted to eat at so many places I had to include lunch in the planning. We found that by using the pm EMH we avoided some crowds.

For example, 6/1 we headed into MK around 7pm..ate and stayed till 12:30am...got on most all of Fantasyland rides in less than 10 minutes. 6/2 we headed to Epcot around 6pm, ate and stayed for EMH...crowds were a bit larger since it had rained earlier in the day, but we managed to get onto Soarin and Test Track within 25 mins. using standby. Saturday night 6/4 we actually went back to MK...wasn't sure if we were crazy or what given weekends are always packed there...arrived about 8pm and walked onto Jungle Cruise and BTMR then decided to leave and head for DD about 10pm. Now, Sunday 6/5 at MGM was a bit more crowded thanks to SWW...wait time in the late afternoon/early evening for Tower of Terror and RNR were 45 mins. and 75 mins. respectively so we opted for fastpasses and went back after dinner. We did stay for Fantasmic at 9pm, and when we left the theater the park was still packed...perhaps even worse than before. We did a little shopping and headed out by 10:30pm.

If you really want to start your days late, it can be done with some planning...decide what you really want to do, take advantage of any remaining fastpasses and pm EMH and just go with the attitude, "we'll do what we can and still have a good time."
