For those we already have a kinect- does it get much use?

I am really, really tempted to brave the Black Friday crowds at midnight at Target to get the Kinect for $99. I think DD7 would enjoy some of the games I have seen and we both loved the commericals we have seen for the Disneyland game. I also thought I could use it for a Zumba game or something. I mentioned it to DH and he told me to save my money b/c it won't be used. (To be honest I bought a Wii fit a few years back and it has just been a dust collector under the bed)

If you have a Kinect does it get much use or is it one of those things that seems great, but ends up never being used after the first few times?

My kids used the Kinect for about 2 weeks after receiving it. They complain that the games are stupid and the "controller" that is used is overly sensitive and too hard to use. These boys are game fanatics and have almost every gaming system that there is, but never use the Kinect. It really looked like a lot of fun but was really a disappointment.

We've used it once... the night we bought it. The sensor is incredibly sensitive, so some games are vry difficult to play. You also need a very large space to play in, almost like a completely empty room. They do have an attachment you can buy to use in smaller rooms, but I haven't tried it. I also wouldn't set it up upstairs because most of the games require some jumping. We live in a rather small 1 bedroom upstairs apartment, and its almost useless for us.

We got ours last Christmas and it still gets played, more so in winter than summer, but we still enjoy it. My kids are 11, 13 and almost 17, us adults think its great fun as well :lmao:

My 14 DS played his the day he got it, and that's about it. He doesn't really like it. I agree with what the other poster says about needing a lot of room.....his bedroom just isn't large enough.

Good luck deciding.

We have had ours for about a month now and it does get used. We adults love it. I will say that we have to use the zoom attachment because we have a small house. It worked fine now that we recalibrated the kinect. Some games are easier than others in regards to sensitivity of the sensor. My oldest is 7 and does just fine with most of the games we have. There is a lot of jumping in most of the games we have so I agree that it might not be the best for upstairs especially if the downstairs is not family. There are some specific areas to stand in so the sensor can read the body so it might not be easy for people who cannot follow directions well or kids who are super antsy. We have to remind my son to move back sometimes so the sensor can continue to read him. Anyways there is my review :)
