For those traveling with pets

I just discovered that Motel 6 accepts pets...FREE! We're bringing our Pomeranian with us to FW and I was worried where we would stay. There's one located right off of I 95 in Florence SC, which is where we would always stop when we brought the camper down too. We're staying in a cabin this year (think I can convince WDW to change their policy and have a 'pet loop' in the cabins as well!? )

Just wanted to pass on this info! Hope it helps someone.

You know I just saw a commercial on TV, only caught the end, that showed dogs on a bed in Disney World, and dogs walking up to Cinderella castle. What does that mean??? It must be a new Disney commercial promoting what tho, could it possibly mean they are starting to allow some pets (hmmm not getting my hope up) or do they mean that Disney has the pet boarding at the property, not sure, but I'm just praying, one day, at least one of their resorts, etc., may have a section for us pet owners. If someone has seen this commercial, please tell me what its about exactly. Tink

Keep on wishing upon a star and maybe some day they will allow pets at one of the resorts. Maybe if they put some wheels under a few of the cabins and moved them to a pet loop you might be able to stay at FW in a cabin and have your dog with you.

Haven't seen that commercial yet.

Those commercials always sort of bug me...because they don't allow pets in any of the hotels...let alone the theme parks. I know at least FW has some pet loops now..so that is an option. I mean most folks drawn to those types of commercials are going to be pet owners and I think it can sort of give the wrong impression.

Not being the "pet police" or anything..but curious..do you plan to have your dog in the cabins? If so, aren't you afraid that someone will notice and report it? I was under the impression that the cabins had housekeeping services also..wouldn't they notice your little four legged friend running about?

Ditto. I think it stinks that you can't take fido to any of the resorts, yet they show it on TV? I know it's supposed to be cute, etc. but it bugs me. Universal allows pets in some of their hotels. What gets me is that the Starwood chain that owns the Swan and Dolphin has a chainwaide policy to accept pets (individual hotels can have their own policies, but most do accept them even if on a limited basis based on size, breed, etc.). But the Swan and Dolphin cannot accept pets per Disney's policy.

No, I have no intention of bringing Tazz into the cabins. Mousekeeping does come in daily so there would be no way to 'sneak' him in. He'll be kept in the kennel in FW. I actually did just send WDW an email, inquiring whether they would ever change their pet policy. They could allocate certain rooms as pet rooms (it would be best at the hotels that are closest to the kennels), maybe have guests leave a security deposit just in case, and have the policy state that pets must be housed in the kennel when they are not in the room (not only to keep the barking down but for the safety of the mousekeeping staff) . I don't know what they will say to this suggestion but I think they would get a lot more guests............makes sense to me though.

That would be nice...I assume that there are possibly liability issues...I'm sure that they don't want to open themselves up to any lawsuits in regards to pets biting a guest or something of that nature.
It doesn't seem that they are hurting for business..so they don't have to cater to anyone with pets. They get there money no matter what, they probably don't want the added headaches.
Part of the reason we have a travel trailer is so that our dog is able to come away with us.

I think the Disney commercials are a pretty cute marketing scheme. I mean, come on, they show the dogs on the tea cup rides, picking up their luggage at the airport, and running up the walkway to the castle. Is there really confusion regarding whether pets are allowed in the parks or not? The one time my beagle tried to travel alone, he had problems picking up his luggage at the airport. All the bags looked the same!

They don't even allow then outside at The Marketplace! I was over there with my dad for a few hours, we brought my puppy just to get her out of the house and help socialize her...well after about 10 minutes the peet police were shoonig us off the property. There are no signs or anything, so I didn't know I was breaking the rules. I am generally not a rule breaker.

I think that would be great if they allowed pets in the cabins. They would have to figure something out about the liability issue with dogs biting, etc...

We camp in our camper and love bringing our dog Suzie.

They could consider dog crates for the rooms designated for pets.

There will always have to be some cabins that dogs aren't allowed in. Some people are allergic, and just cuz the dog goes home...his/her dander stays...

for a condo - Celebration World Resort allows pets - this is a timeshares and you are generally staying a week - so the pet charge of $50 for the entire week is reasonable

oh sometimes you can get celebration world resort on skyauction. It hasn't (so far) picked up a following so you can still get it for under $300 (mostly under $230) for the entire week.

Actually there are small signs at the entrance to the Marketplace area that say no pets. I would love to bring Barclay, our King Charles Spaniel with us when we walk around there, but I'm sure the Pet Police would get us too!
