So I was wondering if anyone out there has two contacts or more but at least 1 of them was purchased from DVC and the other via Resale after the new rules went into effect. So I'm thinking you would be able to use your DVC purchased points if you were to book a cruise but since you own both can you use the resale points too at the same time? or can you use only both amount of points to rent at a Disney property?
By owning both do you find you have an issue having contracts purchased both ways? do you wish you had all your contacts purchased thru DVC? or Resale? Do you find it confusing having both?
and of course any other suggestions or thoughts on owning both types of contracts?

Each point is either qualified or non-qualified for use so no, since the resale changes in 2011 any points bought resale are not eligible to be used for the Disney collection. Any points bought direct would be but it takes a lot of points to use for cruises.

We do have one contract from after and the others are qualified. There is no difference in using them for DVC stays and that's about all I recommend one buy for anyway.

I have some direct and some resale. Of the resale, some are pre-2011 & some are post-2011.

As PP said, each point is qualified or not qualified. When I'm choosing contracts to use for DVC reservations, I tend to use the non-qualified contracts first, just to be safe, in case I ever needed the qualified points. Having said that, I'd never use points for a cruise (the cost and restrictions don't work for me) and I've only used the Disney collection at Disneyland before VGC opened.

I own points bought resale and direct. I have only been an owner for less than 2 years, so I am not an expert. My original contract was pre-2016 and my direct were bought in 2016. I bought direct, because I wanted a small contract with the same use year. I got tired of waiting for a resale contract that worked.

I don't ever plan on using points for cruises, as others have said, not a good use of points. I only have 30 direct points. That wouldn't get me very far toward a cruise, even if I wanted to use them.

I haven't run into any issues with using my points. I don't really have any regrets with how I got my points. I don't care that some are resale and some are direct. Doesn't really seem to make a difference. I am glad that I have some direct points, in case something else changes or they give more perks to those who bought direct.

DH and I have one direct, one pre2016 change and our latest will be Post changes (all in all I have two contracts that give me the shopping discount and one that doesnt) I know we will never go on a cruise with our total of 250 points and will never use the concierge collection so we are fine with the restrictions of buying resale as it is much, much cheaper than going direct for contracts 2 & 3.
