For those that have been VB and HH which do you prefer?

What kind of driving time should you allow to drive from WDW to HH?

I am also curious about the driving time. We may consider making a stop here after leaving WDW on our next trip.:)

DVC-HHI is approximately 340 miles from WDW, 5 - 6 hour drive. Travel on I4 amounts to about 65 miles, 245 miles on I95 and after exiting I95 nearly 30 miles on route 278 onto HHI.

I know we are pretty biased toward HHI since it is our home resort. I even created this site to show it off: http://web.me.com/apulk/DVC_HHI_Site_/Welcome.html

We stayed at Vero once as part of a WDW & beach trip. Now, the weather was terrible -- very cool for June and rain. We had it booked for 5 nights but actually ended up leaving after 2 nights and went back to WDW. The Vero resort is great -- love that it is all oceanfront. It also feels very remote (at least compared to the craziness of the Orlando area). Pool, rooms, main resort all very nice. But very different from HHI.

Beaches are very different -- lots more room on HHI, but you do either need to bike, drive or shuttle to the beach house. Tons of restaurants on HHI so the resort doesn't need a sit down place. Great place to ride bikes. I think DVC HHI has more resort grounds too so there are more places to find a hammock, walk, explore.

For us, coming from the North, HHI is also more convenient in that you can either hit it "on the way" there or back. We are doing it again this summer...we'll stay Sunday thru Friday at DVC HHI then drive to WDW for 4 nights.

Your Site is great, thanks for sharing, loved the photos of the Grand Villa.

Would HH be a good choice for a couple with no kids who love beaches, shopping and good restaurants? We are not golfers or people who like to fish. We like to be lazy at the beach. Will we be bored? Thanks everyone !!!!
Also, how is the weather in the beginning of May?
Thanks again !!!!

What I like about HH is it does not seem touristy, its a very nice community, well taken care of. I do not golf either but I love it there. I like a couple lazy days at the beach and pool. We love walking around Harbour Town shopping, eating, ice cream. Sometimes we go on excursions, dolphin watching, horesback riding, and such. Like to have a drink at the salty dog. Lots of restaurants in Shelter cove right next to Disneys resort. We just love it there for some reason.

Just curious if any are close by......

How about shopping??? Do you need to drive everywhere??

Vero Beach :You need to drive everywhere except for a corner pizza shop which is a very short walk. There is upscale dining, a boardwalk, shops in nearby Vero Beach. Grocery stores are closeby in the neighborhood. There is a mall with movie theatres, stores, etc. about 20 min. down 95.

Are you asking about HH or VB? If you are asking about HH there are numerous resturants in Shelter Cove which is about 5 to 10 minute walk max.

Yes HHI I should have said that. Oh that is great. I would love to walk to Shelter Cove. I can't wait for this trip. Even if it is dead of winter. LOL

You don't need to drive to Shelter Cove, it is virtually right next door to DVC-HHI. But other locations, yes you'd need to drive (or bike) - to places like Harbor Town, Coligny Beach Plaza ( iirc that's what it's called - ETA yes that's what it's called, here is link to it as well

http://www.colignyplaza.com/

but once you get to locations like these you can park and do alot of strolling around to shops, restaruants, etc.

Here is a link to Shelter Cove restaurants, shops, etc.
