We are going to start buying our AP vouchers soon for our upcoming trip. If I just order vouchers for the standard AP can I upgrade them to a Premium if I want?

Yes - when you turn the voucher in at Guest Services, hand over a lot more $$$ and you can get the Premium AP.

You can upgrade to a premium at any time durring the year but it will not be prorated so it is the same amount on the first day as the 200th day of your year.

That is good to know because right now we can't decide if it is something we would use. We will not be using the waterparks for our December trip, my inlaws are coming and don't really swim, so the girls can use SSR pools. It may be something to add for our June and October trips.

Nice to know we could add during the course of the AP.

I actually purchased regular 6day park hopper tickets through Undercover Tourist and upgraded them to Annual passes when we got there in September. This helped save a little bit of money off the annual pass. We didn't have a problem at all upgrading ours so you shouldn't have a problem taking your voucher to a Guest Services and upgrading yours to Premium.

It's not a lot, but DVC members do get I think it's $4 off single day tickets to the water parks if you think maybe you'll only go once during your stay. This might be a better option to save money instead of upgrading to the premium pass.

Most definitely before you go to a premium AP figure out what your alternative costs are if you just get AP and use a disccount such as DVC for waterparks or Disney Quest. You really need to do those multiple times during a year to justify upgrading from AP to premium

Am I reading the price charts wrong? I am coming up with and average of $100 more to upgrade each ticket but an average of $45 per day to just go to a waterpark or DisneyQuest. Even if we only go 3 times in the course of a year isn't it more cost effective to get the Premium pass?

You are reading it right. If you will use the Waterparks that many times and or Disney quest then it is worth it. We are not big waterpark people, so we just stick to the regular Annual pass.
