For those that frequent OKW do you have a fave building/section you like to stay in and why?

Thanks everyone. When I called member services she suggested buildings 62/63 1st choice and buildings 23-26 2nd choice. That is what she put in as the request. We shall see what happens.
62 and 63 are not Near HH area booking category and 23-26 is Near HH booking category. Which did you book? You might get one but not the other depending on what you booked.

Just my two cents... love OKW. We have stayed in 25 and the accessibility is wonderful, BUT...
it is VERY noisy if you are on the front side of the building due to the busses. Also, if there is a night-time party at the waterpark close by (I think it is BB--can't remember which one) you will hear all the dance beats:rockband: into the morning hours. If you stay in that location, bring earplugs.::yes::

It is Typhoon Lagoon, and the noise will carry, depending upon the atmospheric conditions. Sometimes I've heard the private events, sometimes I haven't.

Thanks for your input--Typhoon Lagoon it was! :)
We have stayed at OKW 6 times and that was the only party we have heard; it was also the only time we have stayed in that area. Usually we are tucked up in Turtle Pond somewhere.

All I know is the music was so loud in our room that I could feel it pulsing in my chest--boom,boom,boom. :music:

You need to be at OKW during Disney Marathon time. You hear the fireworks go off, you hear the announcer talking to the runners, everything. Every morning there is a race.

I booked for a stay at OKW (can't wait . . ). How do you request a certain building or location? Do you just call member services? If you request, do they usually fill the request?

FYI - A CM recently told me you almost have to book an accessible room to ensure first floor or elevator access as those who truly need it for health reasons are given priority on the very limited elevator rooms. Worth a shot?
I am wanting to rent two studios next year at OKW for one night before our cruise. One of the studios will be for my daughter and her boyfriend (husband) and she can not climb stairs that are at OKW. What would I need to get to ensure that she would be placed either in a ground floor unit or the building with the elevators? Hopefully we could get into the same building. Since it would only be a one night stay, I could care less where it would be, but my daughter would have to have ground floor or the elevator buildings.

Remember that OKW is all two to three story buildings, meaning more than 1/3 of the rooms are ground floor....the exception being the 3 bedroom grand villas, (there are only two without entry level stairs). For studio, one and two bedroom units, there really shouldn't be a problem as long as you let the member or agency you are renting from know it is a priority, and the most important of your requests. As a renter, you can not call member services, your requests have to go through the DVC owner.

Yes, call MS. OKW has been pretty good with granting our requests. Good luck with getting yours. Here's some pixiedust:pixie dust for you!

I forgot about that until you mentioned it. Except the year we were there there wasn't a race EVERY morning-the half marathon got cancelled because of weather. But the other days were fun.

We've had many times that we have not gotten our request or even near it. And our requests are usually pretty generic. Ground or lower floor. South Point. Millers Road.

That's sad. Hmm, ours are very specific--we usually name a couple building #'s. Try that next time and see if it works for you.

I was not very familiar with how the busses worked there and the information in these posts wasn't suggested to me by CMs, so I also ended up waiting a long time for the internal loop.

That’s such a bummer. I’m glad it was brought up here for you and others.

We always try to get buildings 27/28/29... close to Peninsular Rd bus stop... 5 min walk to HH house... can easily get the bus there as well... it’s the first bus stop when coming into the resort so it’s easy to get seats first thing in the morning and first off when coming back

As long as we or really she has a studio on the ground floor that will be fine. But I will add her doctor has since signed off on her getting a handicap pass for her car/tag, would that carry any weight to Disney in her room location?

Sorry, no. But you could valet park at the resorts that offer it with only paying the tip.

We won't have a vehicle. Oh well, I am confident that if we really stress to whom ever we rent points from that they will relay her need to Disney. And we will do so as well at the front desk.

I think that every time we requested a ground floor, we got it. Just have the owner add ground floor for medical needs.

You could also request that they reserve a handicap modified studio. it is a booking option. The difference is a roll in shower for wheelchairs instead of a bathtub. But all the handicap units at OKW are on the first floor, except in bldg 63, which has an elevator.
