For those that frequent OKW do you have a fave building/section you like to stay in and why?

I would love to know where you like to stay and why. We have a trip coming up in March and I have only ever requested near HH or actually booked the HH booking category. We will NOT have a car on this trip. Thanks!!

Turtle Pond is a lovely area with a quiet pool, bus stop and a seasonal snack bar. If you are looking for privacy on your balcony and mature tropical landscaping this is a great location. Do make sure you think ahead as far as groceries from Conch Flats goes as it might take an hour to wait for a bus to/from to get milk! We've stayed all over OKW and this is our favorite spot.

We were at South Point for our last trip. We hopped a bus to get to the HH and then walked back to Peninsular Road and grabbed the next bus back to South Point from there. You can hop any bus to get to the HH and any bus to get back to your area. No waiting for hours to get a bus.

Waiting an hour for a bus to go to the HH makes no sense. All buses should stop there before they leave. Plus you could have walked there grabbed the milk and walked back in less than 30 minutes. Getting back would be the issue, but you could walk over to the Peninsular road bus stop and get on the first bus and get off when it makes it to your stop.

We also love the Turtle Pond area for all the above listed reasons.

I agree it makes no sense, however I have a walking disability so I have no choice.

I think what Jackal is saying, is that your post sounds like you are waiting for the Internal Loop/Disney Springs bus to get to/from the HH area. You don't have to do so. You can hop on ANY park bus to get to the store, it is always the last stop before they leave the resort. And depending upon the severity of your disability, it is a 750 foot walk (as measured by Google Earth) from the HH area to Peninsular Road bus stop, where you can again hop on any bus to return to your closest bus stop, so it should not take an hour.

I guess we all see things differently, but just to clarify we did have that experience as I had to stop so frequently and rest if there was a bench (again and again) and have since had a TKR (34 staples currently holding my knee together). I'm sorry to insinuate that everyone may have the same bus experience. Take care!

I too have hip and knee issues, and could not book HH at 7 months to stay there. We were at the far end area and I found it quite difficult to get around. What is a short walk for someone walking without pain, can become an ordeal for someone with pain. I was not very familiar with how the busses worked there and the information in these posts wasn't suggested to me by CMs, so I also ended up waiting a long time for the internal loop. I was thinking of a small contract to get me the 11 month window for the HH category as I enjoyed the resort, though I was unable to use the feature pool, and other amenities.

When we hopped on the bus at OKW while we were staying at South Point, we made sure the driver knew that we were getting off at HH since it was getting full by the time we left Turtle Pond area. He stopped at HH, but not Miller Road and did not let anyone get on at HH because the bus was full.

I like buildings 16, 15 or 27.

Those are my favorite also. I especially like the are of OKW on Miller's Road where 15, 16., and also 17 are.
Building 27 is HH category, but we were in 28 once and loved it.

Actually 27 is not in the HH group. It is the first building in the other group.. 23-26 are considered Near HH, 27 and beyond are the other group.

Thanks everyone. When I called member services she suggested buildings 62/63 1st choice and buildings 23-26 2nd choice. That is what she put in as the request. We shall see what happens.

I do want to stay at my former home resort at some point. I will make sure and do my homework really well before we do in regards to a standard location. OKW is one of the most affordable places to rent at I think.

I do know that when we do get the chance to stay at OKW, I would love to be close to the laundry rooms, so that would be close to the smaller pools. I think there is three of those, other than at the HH area. So, which buildings that are close to laundry facilities that you would prefer than are not in the HH area?

FYI - A CM recently told me you almost have to book an accessible room to ensure first floor or elevator access as those who truly need it for health reasons are given priority on the very limited elevator rooms. Worth a shot?
