Hi. We closed on our resale purchase on 3/6. I have been calling daily for the past couple of days to get our member number from member accounting. Today we were actually in the system and I was given our number and transferred so that I could get the info needed to log on to our account. Once that person got on the phone, she said that she sees our account, but because it's so new they can't do anything with it and we have to wait for the packet to be mailed to us with the log on information.

From what I have read on these boards, it seems most people were able to get the log on info as soon as they had a member number so I was wondering if anyone else had experienced what I was told this morning.

I feel like as soon as you tell them you bought a resale, they are much less likely to help you and just tell you to wait for the information in your mailbox.

If you have a member # and the points have been deposited into your account then member services can make your reservation over the phone
If you want web access and they say you aren't set up yet wait another day or two and call back-there is a totally different # and code needed to set up web access-maybe they haven't gotten to that yet for you-I was able to get both member # and web access same day others have reported having to wait a day or two for web access-member Services can give you your web access # and code if it is set up (they gave me mine)

You probably just got a grumpy CM :) Do you have your member number? If you need the activation code and whatnot for an online account, I believe you pick the IT option. I'd try again this afternoon.

You'll get a mix of people that are somewhat "negative" towards resale. Even my new guide was a bit snobbish when he went down my list of contracts and got to the resale one. And I was calling to add on direct!

Thank you! I hadn't thought to call to book. I will try that now.

So does the "label" of having bought resale live with your account for life? I assumed once we had our number and log on info, we would look the same as direct purchases in the DVC system.

I was given the member number. This person also tried to tell me that the number could change on a resale so I had to wait for the packet to be mailed. Which sounds like BS since this is our number and not the sellers old number. Maybe I'll try calling back later today...

I guess it lives with you forever! And some will make it look like a "tarnish" even if you have a mix of direct and resale points.:confused3

Your member number will not change. They would not have given you the previous owner's member number, so no possibility of change.

I'd call accounting and double check that the account is set up. If you have dates you want to book, I'd try that first. Then talk to IT to get the stuff you need for an online account. Good luck! pixiedust:

I too called this morning and was told they could see our contract in the system (looked up by our last name) but we needed to wait for our package. And yes, they asked if we purchased resale. Very frustrating since we have banked 2013 points that need to be used by July.

May I ask what date your deed was recorded on OCC site? We are in the same boat, waiting to be added to the system.

Ours showed up on March 11th on the OCC site - I have no idea what day it actually closed. I think this has to be the worst part, after all the waiting to be so close....

I couldn't agree more, definitely the worst part of the process. To know it's all a done deal but to not have access to the site >:(

Ours showed up on the 12th so we are in very similar situations (we closed on March 6th). I don't really think it's fair to treat resales differently. I get that Disney doesn't make any money off of a resell and would rather you purchase direct, but they are still getting our annual dues so it isn't like they are getting nothing out of the deal. And I'm sure many are like me, and would never be able to justify the cost if buying direct was the only option.

I thought once we got our number and log in info, the stigma of resale would go away. I'm bummed to learn we have a lifetime to look forward to being treated as a second class Disney citizen.

Yes we all think of you as smart forever!
Ha! Well Disney apparently still holds a grudge and they are the ones I have to call and deal with...

We bought resale and I have talked with member services several times since regarding a couple of upcoming vacations (adding magical express, changing dates/hotel, booking a cash room with member discount, etc) and everyone I have talked to has been friendly and treated me well so I don't think there is any stigma/second class citizen worry. Obviously they know you bought resale because they have to have a way to track if the points are eligible for non DVC bookings (other than rci exchange) since they no longer allow that on resale contracts.

I wonder if because of forums like disboards it is becoming more common for people to call rather than waiting for the info in the mail and they are starting to enforce not giving out the info? I know our broker and title company when we closed both emailed us info explaining that Disney would mail us all our contract info and once we received it in the mail we could go online or call to book-it was only because of here that I knew we could call to get it-if there are lots of resale buyers calling every day and it is increasing phone wait times significantly I could see Disney putting an end to it (since it never was policy to give it out anyway). Anyway just want to say that once you have all your login info I don't think you have to worry about being treated differently (other than the known resale point restrictions)

Duh...I didn't even think of this! I never gave two thoughts to using the points on anything but Disney resort stays so I totally forgot about this difference in the way you purchased.

I'm glad to hear you haven't been treated badly in your dealings with Member Services. Most of the people I have talked to so far have been nothing but friendly. I have had two though that became instantly less helpful when they heard "resale."

If Disney wants to cut down on phone calls, they should give people the option to have the information e-mailed. I just get annoyed when I think I could be booking my trip, but can't because my info is stuck in snail mail.

I'm confused. What are you waiting for in the mail? I thought you got your member number? This would be a 12 digit number, sometimes referred to as your member ID. Oh, and you need the home address and phone number listed on your contract too.

PS - the only thing I got in the mail was the physical card that I use for discounts. And that came a few weeks AFTER the points chart booklet!

I need the club ID and activation code to be able to log into the website...

Did you try calling Member Admin or Member Services and asking for them? I never receive those things in the mail when I bought a second UY last spring.
