Good Morning! :wave2: How are you doing? I just wanted to encourage you today! It seems the first week or so is always such a challenge. Give yourself a pat on the back for making the decision to change your situation and remember.....

A journey of a thousand steps always begins at one!

Have a good day! And drink your water!

Melissa, who is starting a new attitude 4/19/04! ::yes::

Hi Melissa, I am starting today...with new eating habits and trying to start a new fitness plan.

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm going to fill my water bottle now!!

We can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sunny:

Count me in! I'm re-committing to my healthy eating and exercise today! Thanks for the encouragement!

We can do this together!! :sunny:

I am starting Atkins today...tougher than I thought! I had 2 hard boiled eggs and a piece of celery with cream cheese for breakfast and am now snacking on a little more celery with cream cheese (3 small pieces total for b'fast and snack). I am a teacher and I have gotten into the routine of eating whenever my kids go to PE or Music or whatever and then at lunch. Hopefully these low carb - no carb snacks will help the urges. I brought lunch meat and cheese for lunch (boars head 0 carb stuff...). And LOTS OF WATER
Currently I am feeling a little hungry, but I have a headache from missing my coffee...
Thanks for the support! I think we all can do it if we do it together! ( My boyfriend was supposed to do it with me, but has already reported eating a bagel! so much for him...)

Thanks again and any tips would be appreciated!

Hi,

I'm new to this board, but not to the DIS. I'm re-committing to stay within my Weight Watchers point range today. Thanks for this thread -- exactly what I needed to get a good start.

hey everyone :) what a fantastic way to start!!

this morning at 6 a.m. I joined two neighbors for our first week of a walking/jogging program from Muscle/Fitness HERS mag. We have committed to meeting M/W/F morning.

also -- i started counting WW pts yesterday after two weeks off -- so far so good.

tarasmom-- PD to you -- hang in there. i don't have any low carbing advice sorry but I see DoeWDW here and she'll chime in for you i just know it! I just wanted to send encouragement to you -- focus on getting through today and a day at a time. be open to what is working for you and what you can live with, it's not about deprivation but changing into a healthy eating/exercising way of life. baby steps will get you there..........

Hey all,

I'm right there with you. I lost quite a bit of weight over the last year. Not really into weighing myself much but my clothes feel abit snug so hopped on scale and oops...gained 5lbs. Still never lost last 10lbs so I want to lose 15lbs. I know I can do it, just have to recommit myself.

So here's to a new day, new week and healthy eating!!

Marie

I am so glad that I stopped in today! I have been coming by as much as possible, but life has been really busy lately! I was already planning on restarting today as I lost an additional 3 pounds a couple of weeks ago, but since then I have gained it back so Onward & Downward to all who are working in that direction & healthy eating to everyone!

Kelly :sunny:

I will recommit (again).....

Thanks for starting this thread. I read these boards every day, and post my exercise stuff, but haven't been doing that well with the eating.

Here's to all of us here on the WISH board - whether it's the 1st timers, re-doers, or those who seem to always be on track. We are all trying to get healthier, and I think that's fantastic!!

Started South Beach this morning. I had a 2 egg beaters omelete with 2 pieces of canadian bacon & mushrooms and some green tea for breakfast. Was supposed to add 6 oz of veggie or tomato juice - missed that on the shopping list. For mid morning snack I had a cheese stick. I am about to go make myself a tuna salad. (green salad with tuna on top - not tuna in dressing).
I also spent 1.5 hours at the Y with a trainer who showed me how to use the equipment & designed a workout plan for me. He was a wonderful gentleman. He did embarass me or make me feel bad. I was able to use all of the equipment - some people are able to use certain pieces of equipment for various reasons. I survived. I will go beck tomorrow afternoon - after lunch.

We spent yesterday at Hersheypark - lots of walking & I was sore from that. I went overboard on the chocolate that I bought but I ate it all yesterday so I wouldn't cheat. (South Beach says that was ok ::yes:: ) But DH bought DS a giant Hershey Kiss while I was shopping - I hope he doesn't open it anytime soon!

Tarasmom, and everyone else here - the best tip I have for ANY eating plan is DRINK, DRINK, DRINK!!! Get that water in - it will help you in so many ways! My goal for today is 64 oz. water and I'm halfway there already.

Also, Tarasmom (and anyone else starting / restarting low-carb), please be patient as your body adjusts to these new foods. You probably won't feel all that great for the first 3 - 5 days but after that, you'll discover energy you never thought you had, a clear mind and a body that is less bloated. You just have to hang in there for those first few days!! :sunny:

I almost forgot - get a tape measure and take those measurements!! There WILL be times when the scale stays the same but you will be losing inches. If you only watch the number on the scale, it can be so hard to keep going, but if you can see those inches melting away, it truly helps you stick with it!

Great thread: I am also recommitting today. So far so good--of course it is just after lunch, but hey, I've got 2 meals under my belt. Time to go back to court, but this time, I am taking my water bottle with me!! Good luck to everyone!

I started WW again on 4/15 so this thread is a great motivator. It helps to know that I'm not re-starting by myself. I think I'm getting off to a great start. The fact that it's just about bathing suit time is a great motivator, too! Good luck everyone!:wave2:

Well... This thread should be up every Monday! I recommit every week, since I often have a downward slip at the end of the week. Anyway, here I am, with the goal to work out six days this week and eat healthier. No eating plan, just avoid trouble foods.

ohMom - is that walking/jogging program in this month's Muscle and Fitness Hers? I am looking for something of the sort! Does it seem to be a good plan? What is the ultimate goal fo the program? Very interested over here!

Good luck as we start fresh... I always set little daily goals for myself, it makes it easier to keep it in my mind...

Well, I did it and made it through the first day...I think the hardest part is time to prepare food. The mornings I rush out to be at school by 7:40 and that is after I drop off Tara, during the day I have the time but lack the fridge and cooking appliances! This evening I had a small salad, steak, and broccoli ( I really don't want to measure food so I just had really small portions). Tons of water throughout the day, pounding headache, but pride in myself and thinking bikini is really helping! Thanks to all...
