For those on Dining Plan: How much did you spend out of pocket?

For us the Dining Plan meant almost everything was paid up front.

We are not big breakfast eaters so we just bought little cereal bowls every day and used our snack allotments for milk and fruit in the morning.

We don't really drink so for us TOTAL out of pocket for Seven Days was $125 including souvineers. There were four of us two adults and two kids.

So how about you all. How much were you out of pocket?

We just got back, Thanksgiving week. 5 of us on the dining plan, spent $130 out of pocket at Wolfgang Puck for dinner one night. Had 6 counter meals left over. We did 4 Char. Meals, Round Table for Thanksgiving and Chefs de France twice. Was well worth it.

We did 5 nights on the plan and spent about $150 out of pocket for kids meals and breakfast snacks. We wound up with 2 signature dinners and all meals for our 6th check-out day. DP was great!

It is great hearing such positive things about the DP. We usually have one big meal a day and the TS will be used for sure! We may be minus one or two since we plan a couple of signature restaurants.

I do however, need to get in gear and finish up our ADRs! We have a few, but need a few more to schedule yet.

We went for 7 nights in October, and we paid $70 out of pocket for the week. DH had beer at a couple of dinners, and I had a cocktail at a couple, as well. The Pop Century food court didn't cover brownies as a snack, and one day, we ate lunch at Wolfgang Puck's on the west side of DTD, and for some reason, when we went to use the Dining plan, they said that the Express location on the Marketplace side was the only one that honored the plan- so that was $22 we had to fork over. :confused3

We left WDW with 2 TS credits left over (DH and DD came down with horrible colds, and didn't feel up to dinner at Biergarten on our last night), and about 5 or 6 CS left. I don't even know how many snacks we left unused- we had the free Dining, so we didn't feel the need to stuff ourselves to "get our money's worth".

We were there for 5 nights. I had a drink at the Poly bar ($6.50), my son had a shake at Le Cellier ($3.50??) and a fruit cup in Norway ($3.00??) and we tipped an extra $35 on TS meals. Other than that, we didn't buy any other food. We had bottled water with us so that saved on snack credits. We were full all the time (and my son is 16).

Now that I think about it, we had snack credits left too. I bought 5 Mickey rice crispie treats the night before we left with snack credits.

It also depends on how one uses the plan. If one is using it to supply all their meals for the vacation, then out of pocket payments will be to a minimum. But for those that do more than one TS meal a day, then they will pay more out of pocket. But they can pay for just the kids out of pocket and only use the TS credits for the adults, thus making the savings greater.

we ate dry cereal for breakfast or skipped it and ate early lunches. we could have not spent any money at all, but we wanted to try some snacks like dole whips and ice cream floats. plus, we added a little tip on to bring it up to 20%. i would say in a week the two of us spent less than $50. i LOVED it!

we purchased a trip for my parents anniversary this march with the dining plan, does anyone know if fruit cups or muffins count for a snack credit, or is it all junk food like cookies & icecream? thanks.

i believe one piece of whole fruit counts as a snack, but fruit cups do not. that's what a cast member at Pop told us.

We went Thankgiving. Had Breakfsat every day for about $25 for 2 adults and 1 Child. Also ate 1 CS OOP for about $30. We used 15 Snacks on the last day for on the way home. We where also buying Apple Juice for the 15 month old when we could have used Snack credits. I did not figure this out until day 5. :confused3

we went for 5 days/nites during jersey week-2 adults-3 teens-14, 16 & 17. we had two full sit down breakfasts at kona and a full lunch on our final day plus some in between stuff-so we spent a good $250 -$300 extra on food. we used all our dining plan credits as well. we did save $200 with the dining plan. we had three meals a day on most days. :dog2:

We went for a week in October. Spent $11-15 each morning for breakfast at Roaring Forks, and paid OOP for a meal at Sci-Fi (didn't want to burn a table service credit for lackluster food). Other than that, we tipped extra for exceptional service (we took a vote among ourselves at each meal as to whether that server deserved it or not). Total was about $200.

We went the last week of Sept into the first week of October. We were on the free dining promotion. The only money we spent OOP was for alcoholic beverages. I didn't add it up, but it was probably about $50. We had $300 in rewards on our Disney Visa rewards card, and we spent every penny on adult beverages and souvies!

We used all of our credits and never went hungry. We also never shared meals. We ate two meals a day, and had PLENTY of food. I did bring some snacks from home...granola bars, peanut butter crackers, Nutrigrain bars...and we bought 2 refillable mugs.

The dining plan was just wonderful! We really enjoyed it!

Our total out of pocket was $38.00!!! One day I bought the kids some gummy letters at Epcot and some chocolate for me. Then the only other expense was some pins I bought for me and the kids. The meal plan was fantastic- there was so much food you really didn't need to spend anything!

I noticed some of you posted you paid for breakfast I think. Was this because you ate somewhere that was not on the dining plan or are breakfast choices limited for counter service at food courts. For example I hope to stay at POP, I am familiar with the food court are we allowed to choose anything for breakfast??

We paid for breakfast at kona cafe-since it is a table service restrnt - we felt that the dining plan was a better value on dinner. Brkst for 5 of us at kona(twice) averaged $75. Our three table svc dinners averaged $175. We used a ts on the dining plan for a character bkfst at ohana which was about $110 and we had a counter service dinner one nite. we also used some counter svc meals for bkfst. :wizard:

subcribing cause i am interested in cs brkfst use also
