and checked in on a Sunday, what time was your villa available?

I'm only asking because while I would expect it to be the 4 pm normal check in time, I'm thinking that since the week-end points are so high, it's possible many of them could be empty and therefore checkin could possibly be earlier in the day.

Just wondering. :teeth:

Not sure of your dates or which resort but I will be in a GV at Old Key West from Thursday til Sunday...yeah, I hate that the weekend eats up so many points but it was the only time we could make this trip. I'll be anxious to hear how people reply to your post!

OKWest the week of June 25th, 2006.

If we don't need the GrandVilla, then we'll be in two bedroom. Depends on how many people we have coming. If it's 7 we're going for the Grand Villa ( yes, I know we'd fit in a two bedroom but we'll have 5 teen age boys and I'll need THREE bathroom LOL)

If not everyone comes and it's only 5 or 6 of us then I'll just get the two bedroom.

With a two bedroom, I wouldn't count on anything before 4 pm, but I was just wondering about the Grandvilla.

We checked in at OKW on July 1 around noon, and it was ready! We had 6 people--all girls except for DH, so we needed all the bathrooms :teeth: We were in building 48, and it was wonderful!

LOL, glad to see someone else thinks like me re the # of bathrooms, yes you can get those 6 or 7 in a one bedroom ;) but you NEED those 3 bathroom that a GrandVilla gives you. I'm not booking bedrooms, I'm booking bathrooms LOL

In January ours was ready when we arrived at OKW, around 11am-12noon I think.

Remember though, that's a stroke of luck. They don't guarantee room ready till 4PM.

Our GV last October when we checked in on Sunday morning was not ready until 4:30.

GV OKW was ready at 8AM Sunday after Christmas in 2003. What a pleasant surprise that was. Took about 10-15 minutes to check in.

We checked in around 11:00 AM had lunch (9 of us) and hung out at the pool after we got the bldg/area assignment for GV in the Miller Rd. area. We were told that the room was being worked on but we were not able to get into it till about 3:45 and we needed to hurry for our HDD seating at 5:30 pm. (We also love the 4 showers in the villa.)

Are there really 4 showers in the OKW Grand Villa. For some reason I thought there was only three. That's even better!

Do all the Grand Villa's have 4 bathrooms. We saw the SSR one and I thought I only counted 3 there, so maybe that's why I thought they only had 3.

I have to say the thought of staying in a GrandVilla gets better by the moment.

Yes, GV's have 4 bathrooms. Each bedroom has it's own and there is also one near the kitchen on the main floor (for guests sleeping on the sleep sofa).

I tried to add a day at the beginning of my OKW GV Nov trip but there were no GV available for that day. So I don't think I'll be getting into my GV early. :sad2:

Must admit, I was a tad annoyed in February. I checked into two studios at OKW for the Saturday night, then we were moving to the GV on Sunday because the rest of my family wasn't arriving until Sunday evening. When I checked in, I asked if we could possibly get our GV in advance (they'd already told me it was in the same building), so we didn't have to move (we didn't have points, just hoping it would be easier to let us have the GV for one more night if it was empty, then having to clean two extra rooms). Well, they said no, that there was a family in our GV for Saturday night.

Sunday morning, we moved all our luggage into the two rental cars -- assuming there was no way the family would be out and the roomo cleaned --and we headed to the lobby around 7 a.m. to check-in to the GV on our way to breakfast. They had made a mistake -- the GV was actually empty the night before and they gave it to me right away on Sunday morning.

To make matters worse, the GV and studios were in the same building, but we'd already moved all our luggage into the cars, so we had to go back and load the luggage back into the room.

Oh well! I'm sure it was an honest mistake and at least we were in WDW!

It's been a few years, but the GV was ready at 9:00am; the studio we also booked was not ready until later. This was on a Sunday.

next time you move during your stay, remember that Disney will move all your stuff for you. All you have to do is pack it up and have it sitting there for them to take. Doesn't matter if you change resorts or just rooms within the same resort.

I would never expect to get a free GV for a night without the points to support it. Somehow that just doesn't seem fair, even if it was empty. There really was no need to pack your things up and put them in the car, since bell services would have handled that for you. Lots of people forget that OKW has bell services.

My experience last week was "pre-check in" at noon. Told to call at 1:00 PM, as villa would "probably" be ready. Called at 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30, and 4 PM. Each time we were told to check back in 1/2 hour. Finally at 4:35 PM, CM said, "Room should be ready, but it's not listed yet as cleaned. Let me check with housekeeping. Rooms are not guaranteed by 4PM, that's just when check-in actually begins." After checking, he told us our villa was ready and we went from the parking lot to it. Funny - we were in the parking lot with a clear view of the entire building from 3 PM on and no housekeepers were near. This leads me to believe the accomodations were ready prior to 3 PM and because someone did not report that the room was clean, we waited for almost 2 hours unnecessarily! :confused3

We checked into a GV at HH at 10 am last August 2004, it was a Sunday :flower: . What a pleasant surprise it was for us.
