We are definitely cruising in Aug 2004, and will definitely book the family suite with veranda on deck 8. Think it is a category 4.
Anyway, has anyone stayed in this section, and if so, how did you find the accomodations?? What section of the boat where you on, and would you stay or request this particular cabin again?? Please , if you don't mind, list the cabin in which you stayed so I can take a look on their map. I am specifically looking for a quiet room, more mid to aft than front..........worried about getting sick!
Thanks in advance. Would love any and all opinions, good or bad
Michelle

Hi Michelle.

Please , if you don't mind, list the cabin in which you stayed so I can take a look on their map. I am specifically looking for a quiet room, more mid to aft than front..........worried about getting sick!

This past August we stayed in stateroom 8002 - a category 4. Being located under the Spa, it was quiet. DS10 and DM65++ both felt the motion of the ship. I didn't.

In August '02, our first cruise, we had stateroom #8042 - another category 4. It is situated near the Goofy pool but not directly under it. Early one morning I heard some chairs being moved above us but just went out onto the verandah and fell back to sleep peering out across the Caribbean Sea.

Between both staterooms, all three of us preferred #8042.

Wishing you a terrific cruise...

Hello fellow Boardwalk DVCer!

We were in 8102, a Cat 3, in March. I have not stayed in any of the Cat 4's so I can not give you specific details, but I can tell you what I know about deck 8. We were in a cabin as far aft as you can go and we did not have any problems just some noise in the mornings. Some people have stated they like to stay forward and do not have a problem with seasickness. The things to remember about deck 8: 1) from the quiet pool to Topsiders you will have some noise in the mornings when the crew are putting out the deck chairs, 2) it tends to get very noisy under the Goofy pool when they have deck parties, and 3) I would say the most quiet cabins are under the spa, which is all the way forward. Hope some of this information helps and I am sure someone will have some specifics.

I see BD got his post in before I did.:D

2 out of 3 cruises we stayed in Cat.4 for a family of 5. First was 8044 which was fine location. Midship under goofy pool but as BD said, not much noise that I noticed. Heard chairs moving around in the morning but not enough to bother us. Also, if our verandah door was open, we could hear the band at times but again not bad.

2nd cruise we stayed in 8590 which was AFT. Another good choice and this room was very close to the back stairs that lead one flight up to Topsiders. A very nice way to sneak up to get food/breakfast items and bring back down to room!

We were in 8568 last year. Great location. The only noise I heard was a low constant hum, which actually lulled us to sleep. We were close to Topsiders and pools. Not a lot of traffic in halls. Has extra storage trunk, which I kept the kids clothes in.
Unfortunately, we had to book Cat. 6 for next year because of pricing, but I would stay in that room again if I could.
I agree with you as far as staying more aft than forward. I did tend to feel more movement on the boat when I was at the front of the ship. :D

We were in 8568 on one cruise and 8570 on the other. We sailed with our brother n law and sister in law and my niece and nephew along with our three kids. The accomodations while not Walts suite were just great. The door between our suites was open most of the time with kids going between both. The rooms are situated a little aft, under the Mickey Pool, but were very convient for going up to the topside deck to get breakfast for the kids, instead of ordering room service. The views from the veranda were great and the ships rocking was gentle and frankly soothing, hardly noticible.

You will have a great time......:) :) :) :)

we also had 8002 andd loved everything about it .............
just a great spot , this trip we have 2080 yes down on deck 2 not loving everything about it it is on a noisy room list
that dave has started and also in passporter..........

Here is what im going to do im going to print out this imformation and take it with me to see if we can get a room change day of cruise..... if that does not work im also bringing Some goood ole fashioned CASH and will upgrade at the port..... have a great cruise...........

We stayed in 8002 and loved it. Didn't feel the waves more here than other parts of the ship. The 2nd room from the very forward of the boat, so no hallway traffic. Very quiet. Also, great side to watch them docking at Castaway Cay. We love this room!

we were in 8044 as well couldnt feel the ship move at all very quiet lost of room we were a family of 5 the room steward did all the prep for sleeping nice to be able to just sit on the veranda and enjoy the ocean the two split bathrooms worked out very well enjoy your cruise

We were in 8056 (with other family members in 8054, 8058, and 8060), and loved the location, especially the fact that it was so convenient to the aft staircase, Topsiders, and the drinks station. We didn't notice any noise in the cabin, but from the verandah we could hear chairs being moved around on the deck above in the morning. Other members of the family (with more sensitive ears?) said they could hear those noises in their cabin...

I don't quite remember our room numbers, but it seems it was 8090 and 8092. These were connecting cat. 4's at the rear of the ship. It was a FANTASTIC location. Just steps away fromt the elevators, and the stairs right up to Topsiders. Like others said, it was very convenient for popping up to bring down breakfast, etc. Also, it was very convenient to the juice/coffee/milk/tea bar which was important for us since we had toddlers. Neither motion sickness nor noise was problematic for us!!!

That was almost exactly a year ago. I WANT TO GO BACK!!!! BWAH HAH!!!! :(

DH, DD and I just sailed on the Magic in July. We had a private veranda in the back of the ship, room 6652. It was a fabulous room and the only thing bad I can say about the "private" veranda was that I would have enjoyed the privacy more if the man in the next room hadn't wandered over to the rail in his underwear. That was a sight I hope to forget.
