For those of you traveling from out of state for a Disney wedding....

What are you doing about the marriage certificate? We found out today that you have to apply in person for the marriage license in Osceola County, FL....we won't be there before our wedding. So, what now?

While we didn't get married in WDW we did get married out of state. The minister who married us had us get our marriage license in our home state and to bring her a copy before the ceremony.

We did the paperwork about a month before the Big Day and had the official copy a week later. In our state our friend just went online and (for free) did that "minister license/ordination" thing and signed the license for us and we got some employees of the cafe we were in to witness it. ..... It's special for us because we get 2 Anniversaries ~ The private "paper" one in November, and then the BIG (main) on in December.

Also, it doesn't take generally require more than an hour or so to taxi to the courthouse and get the license. If the clerk is having a really busy day, maybe a little more...My friend (who got me hooked on this idea hen she wanted a DFTW!) got lost, found a parking spot, the papers and a drive thru lunch in about two hours.

We did the mail-away license mentioned by Boston Disney Bride above. It is a FREE service that only costs what you'd spend on the license if you went to the courthouse in Florida. It was so nice not to have to make time to go get our license in the busy days leading up to the wedding.

We did the mail away as well in Brevard county. It worked out great and was really easy! We didn't want to waste the time or have to get a rental car to do this in person so this was the best option! Good Luck

We also did the mail away option and the license arrived very quickly. I sent it priority mail on a Saturday and received it back regular mail on Thursday. I sent it priority mail because it was less then a month before the wedding and it was going cross country but I received it back really quick. We also received out marriage certificate really quickly. We were married on Wednesday the 22nd and received the marriage certificate on Thursday the 1st.
