I'm trying to time my Kilimanjaro Safari fastpass with the sunset for my trip in two weeks. I've looked up the actual sunset times on the web but don't know how that translates to reality - I'm aiming for dusky with the (hopefully) the red/orange sky (I know weather dependent) but I don't know if that's before or after the official sunset time of 5:28p that's listed? My current fp is for 4:45p-5:45p but am afraid it might be too early?

You're going to struggle to hit it 100% precisely perfect, because it's a fairly short window. You can't predict how long the FP+ line will be, how fast the ride moves (you may have to stop due to animals in road, etc...). But the sun fading into the curve of the earth is just as official sunset time hits, if I recall. We were just there last week and that was right around 5:45pm...it didn't get truly dark until about 6:30ish or so.

I know...it sounds amazing in my head but the million things that will be going on once we are there will probably make this the least of my worries lol! That helps though at least I have some frame of reference!

We've been on the safari at sunset. It's a really pretty view as you get to the savannah. I'd suggest getting into the FP+ line right around 5:00-5:10pm. If you wind up blazing through the FP+ line, you could probably ask to wait off to the side for 5 minutes if you want.
