Now you can do both. lol.
My son wants to adopt a black lab and there are none to be found here in CT. Our present dog was adopted in Clearwater two years ago and we are looking at FL for another. We found one but the trip down in my car would be over $800 in gas.
I found a flight for $93 leaving on the 30th. I Plan on taking magical express to my DVC resort and will do Disney for a few days. ( I can't go to FL without visiting the mouse.)
I will pick up a car at Swan on the 1st and drive it home for $17 a day. I will pick up the puppy on the 3rd if we are approved and drive home from there. The car I booked has 32 MPG, much better than my Sportage.
National car rental needs cars brought back from Fl during the months of April and May so if you can drive home during that time you might want to book a car through them.

Never knew car rentals had a need! Although we are not going down during this time, thanks for the tip. Who knows, maybe we will look into this for future trips. I was talking to a friend from MI about driving in the future because flying is getting too expensive. Maybe we can fly down, rent a car to visit other parks and then drive home. Staying on property is no problem because we are DVC owners too.

By the way, good luck with the new lab! We are English Bull Dog owners!

We did this last year (April). My friend was supposed to drive down to FL with the kids and me. She developed a crazy infection in her arm and ended up in the hospital, poor thing. (She's fine now)
Anyway, I found a last minute flight down but back was way to expensive (over $700 per person!) So, we rented a car from Alamo for $13 a day and spent 3 days driving from Ft. Myers to Boston with me as the driver. It was a special on one ways - north only.

And, we got our black lab from adoptalab.org if anyone is ever interested in getting a lab. It is a rescue organization based in the mid-west. Our pup was already in MA, though. A couple had recently adopted him, but couldn't keep him. He was 6 mos. old at the time, now he is almost 5. :goodvibes
