Good Morning America's deals of the day includes an "Aquavault" which can be used to secure your valuables on CC. The special is 50% off which makes the vault $30 plus $4.95 for shipping. The deal is only available until midnight or while supplies last. Here is the direct link to the offer:

I got one from Zulily a few weeks back. Should be delivered Friday. Paid about what this price is including shipping.

In all my many visits to Castaway Cay over the years, have never had a problem with anything personal being taken on the island.

If you have no one to keep any eye on your stuff while you're in the water, just keep them covered and no one should bother them.

If you leave for lunch or any extended period of time then take anything of real value with you.

In all the years I've been on beaches around the world I've never had a problem. I take only the bare essentials and leave everything else secured elsewhere.

This is the one we got.

I bought it more for water park use than anything else. In September when hubby and I go to WDW we are planning to hit up Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, & Volcano Bay. Then when I go on my annual Dream cruise with my friends I'll take it for Atlantis Aquaventure rather than rent a locker there. No need on Castaway as we have 2 cabanas. ;)

Nothing happens until it happens. Ive never had my stroller stolen from WDW, but it happens. I've never had anything stolen from my room or stateroom but it happens.

We went with the safego and for the most part we keep our eyes on our bags but if we go to lunch, go to a waterpark, take an excursion with a day pass to an island resort, etc we use our safe. Many resorts I have been to in the caribbean do not allow anything down the water slides (no glasses, no phones, no cameras) and while I don't mind leaving my hat and sunglasses out of sight I'd rather not leave things like my GoPro and phone.

Its one of the cheapest insurance policies I've ever purchased (three trips now) and with every trip I take the cost per trip keeps dropping.

I won't leave my sunglasses behind. Paid hundreds for them. Held a pair in my hand on Crush n Gusher once because the lifeguard told me I should. When we hit the bottom my hand flew off the tube handle & I lost my grip on my Maui Jims. We did find them but they were wrecked. Was able to send them in for repair. $150 later and the only original piece that didn't need replacing was one leg. :headache: When we go to waterparks we have keys, wallets, phones, GoPro, sunglasses, watches, etc. When we are on Castaway we have sunglasses, phones (for pics), watches, & GoPro.

I do realize these things aren't thief-proof. Mostly I just want to make it hard enough for the thief that if they tried busting in they'd draw attention to themselves and not be as fast as a snatch & run.

I'll wear my nice glasses on the ship or at a resort pool but once I am in port or at a water park I take a cheap pair. You nailed it though...these safes aren't steal proof but it makes it harder and most of these sort of thefts are because of opportunity.

Been thinking I should get some cheapies for high-risk use....especially after my oldest son (he's 21) had his custom Oakley's washed right off his face at the beach last month. I kid you not, we were standing in the rough surf, I told him to hang onto his sunglasses, took 2 steps away from him, and he lost them. It happens fast. I've seen some FB ads for floating cheap polarized shades. I think those are the way to go!

That happened to me at Orient Beach on St. Maarten. My DD and I were playing in mild surf and I wasn't even worrying about my sunglasses. Next thing I knew, I was hit from behind by a much larger wave. Knocked my sunglasses right off and they were gone for good. Now, cheap sunglasses are my staple for the beach.

I am considering getting some type of safe to use for our next cruise when we are at a beach in port, but I've never had a problem at CC because I don't take anything valuable off the ship. All you really need there is your KTTW card. My waterproof camera is the most expensive thing I take with us on CC but that was less than $100 and I often have that with me when we're in the water.

I'm thinking about the loungers on an upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise, too. I may get a small retracting cable lock so I can also secure the vault to a chair that doesn't have the round shape to attach it to. I'll run by REI in the next week to see what they have.

Waves be snatchin' up the good shades! Ain't even right! LOL! In all honesty I think my son was a little slow to react because he'd been drinking a bit. ;)

I like some of the options from Blenders Eyewear.

Stylish and not cheap not but $100 either

:offtopic: This happened to me a few years ago at Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda -- the weather turned suddenly and a rough wave hit me from behind out of nowhere and there went my Maui Jims right off my face, never to be found and my DH scoured the water for a while. Luckily, we did recover my DS, who I was also holding at the time. I *probably* made the right choice saving DS instead of the glasses (very happy he was unharmed and he likes to tell the story now), but boy do I miss those sunglasses...
