For those in the Northeast, whatcha doing with your snow day?

We only got about 4 inches so no snow day!! :headache: I was hoping...:sad1:

Definately a snow day here for the kids and me (I drive school bus) DH had the choice of staying home and using a vacation day or going into work. He chose to go to work (he's so dedicated, I tell ya)

It started snowing here around midnight and we have about 2 feet of snow as of right now. It's not supposed to stop until sometime this afternoon/tonight. Weatherman said that some areas are expected to get 3 feet or more!!!

As for what I'm doing today???? Getting ready to take my shower, get into some clean jammies, do a bit of housework/laundry and then head downstairs and SCRAPBOOK!!!! Even if I don't get much done, I'd atleast like to get some cleaning/organizing done down there.

I am getting ready to do the same thing, shower and some fresh PJ's. DH went into work and will be home tonight around 8:30. I've got the house to myself. I am looking forward to my jammie day in the snow :yay::cool1:

Our snow day was called last night, Thank God. I slept in this morning. DH had to go to work (mailman) and DD22 is still sleeping. Looking out the window, it looks like at least 18" - 2 ft. of snow out there.:scared1:

DD and I will watch a movie later on. I'm going to make some stew in the crockpot and hopefully get DD to clean her room (to my standards;)) She's still on her winter break from school and you can tell.

Enjoy your snow day, everyone and be careful out there!

We're having a "rain day" here and yes, school was cancelled prematurely it seems:laughing: DD and I (well me really) have decided to make it a house cleaning day. I've never really caught up from the holidays so hopefully I'll have a sparkling house in a few hours once I get off the computer.:thumbsup2

Schools are open in New York.....:headache:

They may be open but they are like ghost towns- 110 teachers out in my brothers school and only a handful of kids showed up. They were showing buses in the Bronx with only one kid on each bus going to school!
I called off sick from work and am getting up the enery to go out and shovel- neighbor usually snow blows for us but they are on vacation this week!

Working from home today...but it's my birthday, so I'm not working very hard!:goodvibes

Schools are open. Driveway is cleared as are the roads. A normal day here with white on the grass.

You are kidding? Snow? Just another work day here. Only about 8" so far.

Working, though it has barely started here (that's my guess...I can't see outside). Should be a disgusting drive home tonight.

Wanted to stay home, had to dig myself out (dh works overnights, ds was sleeping-no school-didn't want to wake him), but REALLY didn't want to use a PH or vaca day this early, so here I am, at work! Probably will be leaving a little early though.

NJ here! School cancelled. Just got back from a private screening of "Tangled!" We were the only ones to show up to the 11:05 showing, so we had the whole theater to ourselves!:cool1:

We have about 17 inches here. I made a beautiful apple pie, have chicken in the crockpot, and made some meat sauce for tomorrow night's dinner. Washed sheets on a few beds and cleaned the house, also started gathering toiletries for our February trip. DH took care of snowblowing...he has been out there most of the day!

I slept til 11, the kids made their own breakfast. We went outside for pics and to go next door to my parents house. 28 inch drift across the driveway. I's down in between embankments and you can't even see it.

Plow guy came around 2. I went to the store to get milk, everyone else was closed.

I live on a fairly busy road so I've just been enjoying the quiet because no one is out.

I think this stuff is going to be here til August. :headache:

This turned into a ME day here! My DH was here working from home, so no one to play with today! I surfed the net for hours, did my treadmill, finished an online class I was taking and set up an itinerary for my DS for his day at the MK tomorrow! He did IOA today for WWOHP - that made him pretty happy as he's a big HP fan. Guess it's time to start thinking about supper...

DH is out snowblowing and the moment and DS is helping by shoveling the stairs and walkway. DD and I are putting away the Christmas stuff. (yup we still have the tree up)
Looks like it has stopped here. Earlier today I heard someone outside and it sounded like they were stuck I go to the window and its the plow thats stuck!!! :scared1:
We got about 18".

We lost electricity at around 4am and just got it back about an hour ago, 4pm. It's been "blizzarding" all day. DS19 went out to shovel this morning and now it doesn't look like he shoveled at all. Both of the companies that DH and I work for canceled work today, so that was good. DS19 is on break from college, so there was no place that he had to be today. DS22 is on Cape Cod, and he said they only got about 5-6" where he is.

I just put a chicken into the oven, and I'm hoping that the power doesn't go out again since it's an electric stove. LOL

It's still snowing and very windy out there right now; I feel like we're inside of a snow globe! Our driveway isn't clear, and I don't even want to think about trying to dig out tomorrow morning for work. :headache:

Agreed. I was shoveling the driveway and realized the snow walls I was making on the side of the driveway will be here a long time, as will the giant mound on the corner of the yard from the snow plows.

The plow guy came around 2 and got the driveway. DS14 had measured the drift and it was 28 inches before he plowed
The mound in my yard from the driveway is now almost 5 feet. The kids are happy, I'm ready to pack and more to FL.

I was looking across the street and they have a small wall right up on the road and it looks like the DOT just sheared the mound straight across, it's so flat. It's like someone built a snow wall instead of a stone wall.
