thanks everyone for the responses and help.. once i'm able to get a picture of this temporary tattoo to get mine permanently, i'll be sure to post a picture of it... just need to locate that picture somehow!!

Chilihead, i'm 32 and we're definitely looking forward to having children and i had never thought that getting that tattoo would prevent me from having an epidural and God knows I hate pain!! So anyway, i did a search on google to see if that's true or just an urban legend like you said it may be and thank goodness it says that it is an urban legend!! whew!!! so now i can follow through with my plans on getting my tattoo!!

While they may have said it is an urband legend, trust me it is not. When I was getting my tattoos and mentioned getting on of the tattoos on my lower back, the tattoo artist advised me that I would NOT be able to get an epidural. He did mention that it does all depend on where you get it etc and whether there are any "openings" in the ink that they could get a needle in but it would be best to decide on another location. If you are planning on having children, I would definitely talk to your tattoo artist. There would be nothing worse than finding out a few years down the road that you can't get an epidural.

i will definitely check with my tattoo artist before getting the tattoo because God knows i need all the pain medication i can get when we have children!!!

I have 2 tattoos on my back, one is between my shoulder blades ond one is on my lower back just past my waistline both up and down
I have had 2 epidurals
The epidural space is halfway between your brastrap and waistline, most people have the lower back tattoo below that
The epidural man nevr mentioned the tattoos
