I have a question...

We are going out of PVD for a week at WDW...In looking at the airport web site, it looks like the long term parking lot (E) requires a shuttle to the terminal... how quick a ride is it and how convenient? We will have 2 children as well as my 70 year old father... leaving very early in the morning (7:00 flight), so I'm trying to make this as stress free as possible (i hate to fly and all the little details surrounding the trip just make my anxiety worse!). There is also a parking garage closer to the terminal, but that costs a lot more money....

For those of you familar with the Providence airport, do you have any first hand experience with the parking there?

thanks.

we used the long term lot once. not worth it, imo. it was january and we had our then 9m old with us it was a pain to load all the luggage, stroller, carseat etc onto the shuttle for a 2 min ride.

we now park in lot C (not on the website) and walk to the terminal (ds in stroller, carseat on top of stroller and dragging luggage). i believe it cost the same as long term $56 a week.

I have an idea.
Drop your Dad and children off with the luggage, check in with the skycap and go and park the car and take the shuttle back.

Where is lot C? I see on the site a Valet garage but there is no info on that... I wonder why they don't have all the parking noted on the web site??

Thanks Crazywig...! Thats awesome...
I like that it has an enclosed walkway... we're going in the winter... so that's a definite plus!

Part of thw walkway is not enclosed - You will be exposed to the cold in the winter from that lot. I fly out of there 4-5 times a year. That being said it is better than thge E lot.

Thanks DaveO...
The website said it had a "connected enclosed pedestrian walkway"... I guess they mean "partially" enclosed... huh?

Still better than taking a shuttle!

::yes::

We used this garage last year- we ended up at the top, which wasn't covered. I remember we had a little bit of trouble figuring out the signs on where to go once we had parked- we laughed as we were going up and down the elevator, dragging our luggage behind us. I think it was about a 7-10 min. trip between parking and walking in the door of the airport. It wasn't as close as I had thought it would be, but I would definitely use it again when we need to.

Have you thought of a stay, park, fly program? For around $100-$130, you get a hotel room for the night before your trip, they will shuttle you directly to your terminal, and you can leave your car in the hotel parking lot for up to 10 days!
After your trip, you can call the hotel from the courtesy phone by the baggage claim, they will come pick you up, and drive you back to your car!
With kids, you cannot beat the convenience!!
If you are interested, you can PM me and I can find out which hotels do it near that airport. I believe I did it at a Comfort Inn Airport in Providence a couple of years ago, and it was $99 for everything.
This year I am going out through Bradley, and I got the sleep, park, and fly package for $110.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_108.gif' alt='Too Happy 2' border=0></a>

I thought about the park & fly.. but since there are 5 of us (me, DH 2 kids), and my father, we'd need 2 rooms and I can't justify that compared to $56 for week of parking at the airport.

thanks

I haven't used them before but I always seem to get a coupon for them in those Val-Pak mailings

http://www.airportvalet.com/

It's only $45 and they say they get you within 2 minutes when you return.

And alecam.....I thought I was looking at pictures of me when I was Cameron's age. I'll have to track down some pics of me and post them so you can see the resemblence....hopefully he ages better than I did;)

I second airport valet. I have used them many times. In the winter your car is running and up by the check out area when you get back on the shuttle, which is about 3 minutes away. I usually call when i get to baggage claim and they are there when I get out. Super service. You would have to drag your baggage to lot C and walk to your car with the luggage. I think this is so much better.
