For those considering Deluxe AP's....

in march we got this ap with the gift card, upgraded to a premium use our DVC discount and the 50.00 gift card and saved 70.00 total on a premium card. whoo hoo

So do they currently have these at the Fresno store? I may just have to go on a road trip. I live in the Modesto area.

I was going to buy the 6 day passes for me and my girls and with getting the 50.00 gc it isn't much more to get these.

My costco {not in california} sells annual passes {probably not with any kind of incentivie}..

however, I do not understand,

Does the annual pass become activiated when it is purchased at Costco?
Or when it is taken to the Bank at Disneyland and your photo added?

I was just trying to figure out.. as mine and dh's premium annual passes come for renewal in oct.

So if I buy them now at costco and then upgrade them on our oct trip, did they become activiated at purchase in june?
or will the year of the annual pass start when it becomes activiated on our first visit?

It's not a stupid question. The passes are activated when you go to DLR. Costco just gives you a ticket/voucher to redeem at DLR but it isn't actually an AP so you don't have your AP until you get there. And if you are supposed to get a $50 gift card with it, don't go to the bank, go to either guest services or the ticket booth since they are the ones with the gift cards. Then you will go to the bank (or wherever they're doing it these days) to get your picture and AP.

Since I visit about once every month or two I wait until the next visit to renew so months aren't wasted.

This what we're doing. Our APs exired on May 16th, but we're waiting until we go back in August to get new ones.. There was no point in renewing earlier in May if we knew we weren't going back for a couple months.

Okay, so I have a question. I know when you renew your AP, you have a choice of a different design for your AP. Since we're not technically renewing since we're waiting a couple months, do we still have that option since we were AP holders before?

Yes, I can confirm the Costco on Shaw has them. On Saturday night, we called them and they said they had 69 in stock that they just replenished. On Sunday morning, we drove down there and bought 7 for us and in-laws who are going the end of June. Call them first before you plan to go to confirm.

I have questions though if someone doesn't mind answering regarding activating them... Our first day at Disneyland will be on a Saturday in June, which happens to be a blockout day. Am I correct in believing we can activate them on a blockout day?

If the answer to my first question is yes, then are we allowed to exit the park and re-enter later in the day if we need to go back to the hotel to rest since we are not upgrading them to a premium pass? (Since it's a blockout day, not sure if we can leave and re-enter again with only the deluxe pass which we will activate that day...)

Last question... If we can leave and re-enter, are we allowed to park hop on that same day given the above scenarios?

Mini hijack here. If you are up grading a park hopper to a deluxe pass on a blackout day would you be able to stay in the parks that day ?

Oh that is really good info to know. I would have never of thought of even trying. This will work great since we arrive on a Saturday and that is a black out day.

They don't give you anything or question you at all, your Deluxe AP will scan just fine at the turnstiles. We did just this in July 07, upgraded on a Saturday blackout day, didn't have to pay the $40 and we were able to hop with no problems at all. Once your pics are taken you will get your plastic AP and that will work fine.

This is the same question I just answered for Kanela. If you're upgrading yes, you can stay in the parks and hop back and forth that day.

We bought these at the Fresno Costco. 4500 W. Shaw, Fresno, CA 93722. The item number is 295609. This might help when you call to verify stock.

They don't give you anything or question you at all, your Deluxe AP will scan just fine at the turnstiles. I did not have to go to the bank to get my photo taken because I had my old Ap and she did somehting and was able to use my old photo on my new AP. Then I asked her "can I go in or is today a blockout day" she said Yes and gave me a "special pass thing" to hand the gate CM and no problems at all.

Ticket booths are open as long as the park is open. You will need to go to the booths near DTD tho and not the Harbor side, those are the ones that will be open. Also, if you have had an AP within the past 2 years your photo will be on file so you won't have to go to the bank, you will just get your new ap right there at the ticket booth, along with your $50 gift card.

We did not get a choice of designs. When we activated our vouchers in Jan (received for xmas) DBF and I got the old design, when we activated the girls in Feb they got the new celebration design, when we upgraded to Premiums on our next visit we all got the new celebration design. We were not given a choice on designs but we did get new photos taken when we upgraded.

One more question here... Our Deluxe APs include free parking, did this chage to an additional charge?

When did you get your AP? When we had Deluxe's in 07-08 they did not come with free parking. When we activated our Deluxe vouchers in Jan (not knowing if we would be back on blackout days) we added parking for $59.

The renewal form I got in the mail said you get a choice of a special design or regular ONLY if you renew through that form. Buying a new one later won't give you with the special card.
