Today, this weekend, every day, every year, we thank these men and women, and their families, for with their sacrifices, with many having given the ultimate,
we enjoy the freedoms we so cherish.

Thank you, we DO remember, we DO thank you. God speed.

Very nice, Dan. I just watched the dedication of the WWII Memorial-extremely moving. Thanks for doing this.

Sandy

Thank you for that Dan. It's important to remember and be appreciative. Way too many kids that I know just think of Memorial Day as a day off from school or a "fun weekend" :(

Dan, you are the best!!!! My late father was a WWII veteran and he always spoke of his experiences. We spent last weekend in Washington DC, but because of crowds could not get near the memorial. Every day another veteran passes away and their stories go with them - hopefully, they passed them on to their children so the world will never forget.

Always great to see your Holiday threads.;) Especially the Patriotic ones.:o

Lovely tribute, thank you Dan.
As a daughter and wife of a Veteran, I thank you too.
Hugs, Marilyn

Dan - Like I said on another post, thank you so much for posting this. It really did bring tears to my eyes!

I will make sure that I show this to my son in the morning (he's fast asleep now). He is almost 13 and has the upmost respect for our military men and women. He is more knowledgable about WWII then I will ever be.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Dan-
What a spectacular tribute. This is the first of your tributes I have seen, but I look forward to seeing more. You brought a tear to my eye, as that song always does, but with even more impact this time. It's amazing what things some people choose to overlook, if only all people of our country could appreciate these images a little bit more and realize what we stand for and whose shoulders we are standing on.
Thanks for sharing,
Ashley

Thanks, Dan, for reminding us what Memorial Day is really all about.

What does "bump" mean? I put in a reply to Dan's Memorial Day tribute, but now it's gone. Did I do something wrong? The VA gave me this computer to keep me busy, but I am afraid I can just hack through it sometimes.

Franco, you're fine. :) I did post this also on the United We Stand board here also, a sub board of the Community board, devoted to any aspects of our military family here on the DIS. It hopefully is a little slower paced board for those who want to post or reply to something in that subject area. Not that one can't post that on the regular CB, a pretty much open board for most anything, but sometimes, it is easier to be somewhere a bit slower than here on the CB. Sort of a 'safe haven', LOL. :) And your very nice reply is still there, and I thank you for your kind words, and do extend a never ending thank you to you and so many like you, Franco.

A 'bump' is Internet talk for what I did above here, just making a few word comment on a thread, sometimes the author of (as I did here) or sometimes anybody, so as to bring the thread back to page one for other people to see, etc. With the Community Board as fast moving as it is, sometimes a thread can disappear quite rapidly (I found this on page 3). I just thought a few people may have missed this who might like to see it, so, a bump.

And Franco, welcome to the DIS, hope you enjoy it. Again, thank you for your service to us all. And don't worry, you'll learn, just takes a little time. You're doing just fine.

Dan
