Thank you Dan for a beautiful tribute. My 77 year old mother just returned a few hours ago from the Dedication Ceremony for the WW2 Memorial. She went in honor of my dad who served his country during the Second World War but unfortunately passed away long before the memorial was completed. She said it was a very moving experience although she was very disappointed that they didn't actually get to see the memorial. It was closed when they arrived and didn't reopen until 7 that night. The veterans on the tour.... including a 96 year old survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor were quite upset. Many hope to return in October when they can actually see the memorial.
No, mom, I did not. I searched for a time, various sites, looking for a number of pictures that would evoke what I felt and wanted to share. Then downloaded them to my own hosting. But none are my own taking.
The M's and I just looked at the pictures together. At 4 and 7 they do not completely understand but it sparked a discussion on the importance of Memorial Day. I have been talking about the signifigance on this weekend for several days but the post, sound and pictures, brought it home better than I did.
Thanks!
