For the men: Have you worn shorts to the CG?

Of course, wives are more than welcome to answer for the men (since we usually do anyway!) :D

We will have our 1st CG meal in a couple of weeks & my husband would MUCH rather wear shorts & a polo than long pants.....i'll be in a casual dress. Will he feel out of place?

Shorts are quite common at CG, for both men and women. Typically with a collared shirt, though. Enjoy!

Perge is correct, most men where either golf or button down short sleeve shirts and nice shorts. But I have also seen guests in park atire (not tank tops) and that was fine too. I would tell your husband to wear what ever makes him comfortable.

Have a great trip.

When we went for our "fancy" dinner (at Narcoosee's) I wore nice pressed khakis and a collared shirt but I just wanted to feel a little dressed up for an expensive meal - saw people dressed in everything from shorts and t-shirt to dress jacket

Thanks
Jason

My DH has always worn a polo shirt and long khaki's to CG--and all the other nicer WDW restaurants...except for Citrico's where he wears dress slacks and an oxford and V&A's where he wore a suit of course.

We dress for dining at WDW like we would for a like restaurant at home--just becuse one is on vacation doesn't mean that manners go out the window.

My husband and sons always wear collared shirts at CG. They usually wear khakis but if the weather is hot, my husband wears nice shorts.

On our Dec/Jan trip I noticed quite a few people wearing jeans. First time I had seen this but it was cold out. I personally thought it looked a little inappropriate but I certainly wouldn't call them rude.

I also think that what is appropriate in restaurants at home may not coincide with what is appropriate in a sub-tropical climate.

I agree that manners are important (and all too often forgotten these days). That said, to me manners mean adhering to the dress code of an establishment. The California Grill's dress code is no cut-offs or tank-tops. Shorts are fine, although I would do as others have said and pair them with a nice collared shirt (button-down or polo). You will see dress of all types at the finer WDW restaurants but the only one with a strict dress code is Victoria & Alberts. Tell your husband to wear his shorts and have a great time!

Where I am from it's generally just as hot and humid in the summer as it is in Orlando--sometimes even more so!

I've dined at CG many times.
I've never worn shorts.

I've not always worn a coat and tie.
But I've never dined with shorts.

I think, despite WDW's casual climate and atmosphere, CG is TOO NICE a restaurant..........and like ducklite, I think there's no harm in dressing up a bit for one of the better restaurants.

I do not hold anything against those wearing shorts.

Personally, I'd wear something else.

He certainly won't be the only one in shorts. My DH usually wears nice shorts and a polo shirt when we dine at CG and he's never felt out of place.

Dh would wear shorts if he thought he could get away with it. I won't let him! ;)

Seriously, your dh won't feel out of place at all. I just like to dress up a little for dinner.

As long as he is comfortable in shorts, go for it. It's your vacation! :) He's definitely sticking to the dress code.

That said, I wouldn't wear them to the CG. But I'm a lot more concious about that kinda stuff, and would feel uncomfortable in shorts. ;)
