For the FOTL pass, is it a card/key/bracelet?

I know, I know, I over think everything (thanks Disney). Just wondering if to use our FOTL passes, do we show a card/key/bracelet each time? Seems like we'll need to bring a lanyard or something to put them in if it's a card/key, we'll have 4 to keep up with.

TIA

express passes are photo id's made at the hotel.
size of a credit card and they fit nicely in a lanyard holder.

you show it to the TM once you enter the express line and then again (for most rides) to the next TM in line that does the last checks for them

So when you check in to your hotel, go ahead and have them made. If for some reason the kiosks were to be down on your EMH morning, you will be screwed--you'll be standing in line at park guest services instead of enjoying your early access. (And with barely an apology, let alone any offer to try to make amends--the difference in Univ and Dis customer service, IMO.). Also, you can get them at any of the three EP-eligible hotels, not just where you're staying, f you happen to need that info.

Oh, and they're not waterproof, although the dry out nicely overnight........ LOL

the photo express pass is made out of tyvek paper.
once you have registered at the hotel/checked in, use the kiosk in the lobby near the check in counter.
i have never heard of them breaking down so i don't have any answer for you if it would.

i don't get it?
what's the problem?
i'm sure there is a lot lost on message boards when i read something like you posted and probably misunderstanding what you really mean.

if you lose your ep in the park, guest
services can reissue them.
they cancel out your present one and issue a new one.
no need to return to your hotel to have that done.

So I just reread your answer...I guess all 4 members of my party need to be together when we pick them up, since it's a photo id...

For some reason the kiosks at RP were down on our arrival night. They told me we'd just have to go to guest services inside the park the next morning. But EE was at 7 am, and we were headed straight for our first visit to DA, so standing in line at guest services was a big fat H no.

And basically nobody seemed to really care. But finally someone (after I asked about 5 different managers) said we could go to one of the other hotels. They called over just to check, and turned out they were ALL down. So we went to guest services at Citywalk, but they couldn't print them there either. Luckily by about 10pm, they came back up and didn't impact our EMH. But again, if they hadn't, nobody really cared. But it worked and we had a blast.

But the EPs aren't tyvek like the tix (or ours weren't) as I thought they were...when I kept th in my pocket on the water rides...LOL. They were quite gooey, but they dried out well enough to use one more day.

i've had my photo ep's replaced at guest services in the day while at the park.
i stuck it in my bra and it must have fell out.

in the case of all the hotels having the kiosk be down at the same time, you would think that showing hotel room key would be sufficient for the express lines.
the dates of your stay are printed on them so the TM's in the park should have been notified to allow that usage for the day.

last time i was at the darkside was october, tyvek paper was what mine (ep photo card) were printed on at rpr.
(guess i should stop saying the hotel ep's are tyvek as it sounds like it has changed.)

i'm sure lots of peeps were pretty heated up over that issue.
glad you did have a blast that day!
when something goes wrong as serious as what you went through, i can understand being pissed.

i can understand frustrations when on vacation.
last year my hotel card kept failing to unlock my room for me.
5 trips to the lobby to have new cards remade.

on trip 6 back to the front desk, maintenance came with me and found it was the lock system malfunctioning.
they fixed it and no more new room key cards made.

the one nice thing about it was i kept all the non functioning cards and got a lot of minions and spidey!
that's something i like to save after my trips.

each person will be issued a room key card that is listed on your reservation.
if you have littles or kids that lose things, hang on to them instead of letting the kids be in charge of them.

you only need it for the early hour entrance the hotel guests get.
show the hotel card to the tm and they will allow you in the the line marked, hotel guests only.
have your ap or ticket scanned at the turnstile and be in the park before the official opening time.

if the kids are not with you when you register, get their hotel cards and make the photo id express pass at guest services.

only issue is guest services doesn't open until 30 minutes prior to park opening.
you would have to use the gs inside the park as that is where the kiosk is located.
if there are many in line at gs when you go at early entry period, you miss out on time for potter.

That's what I said! Surely if your system is down, we can just use our room key (with our names and dates right on it, like you said). We were told no, they would not accept it. So I said surely you can print something from the hotel management or something that I could use. Nope. And not "OMG we're sooo sorry, have a Spidey bar on us" ;), but just no. And a shrug. Like I said, the difference. But usually crap works out and it was so awesome to be in DA before daylight........

you should send an email to guest services and ask why your hotel room card was not allowed for the hotel perk of unlimited usage of the express lines.
if all the kiosks in the parks and hotels went down once, who knows if it can happen again.

people that stay off site buy the ep's for a day/park.
you can buy them in the park at the shops and gs.

don't understand why that couldn't be printed off for you and the family from guest services
would think they could print an ep out as if they were selling one (but not charge you)

sorry i didn't understand that before, i'm blonde.....

I don't think you're saying this, but in case others do (because I sort of did the first time I read it), you don't need the EP for early entry. You get that by showing your hotel keycard. But to get into the EP lines you need the EP card.

We were told no, they would not accept it.

Were you told this by the TMs at the rides, after explaining what happened, or by people speaking in general?

The room key and hotel EP are the same barcode. The TM's on rides are told not to accept the room key. Even if the hotel EP machines were down for a few hours I don't think word would make it to every TM at the attractions, it's a catch 22.

It's unfortunate that this happened and the only thing to do is tell management. I also think that this is a rare occurrence too. Let's hope it does not happen again.

I have told management and hotel staff that they should have a color photo taken at checkin and put on the hotel key directly in the top corner or something.

This way no extra line for EP and for room charging it's a ID too. Plus it will not get destroyed.

If all your party is not there at checkin maybe they can have one seperate line at the desk for room key help after checkin.

Hotel management. Several of them, actually. Like you said, seems like it could be a massive issue if they stayed down for long; looks like they'd have an alternate method. Like when the Disney tapstyles (or whatever part if the system it is) go down and they bring out the CMs with scanners.
