The departure of rocker Chris Daughtry from "American Idol" means that
the squishy middle has won once again. Daughtry was voted off the show
this week, leaving behind three uninspired performers who may appeal to
the masses but lack any distinctive personal style.

I didn't like Chris. Someone's personal choice is never "wrong". Just because YOUR favorite didn't win doesn't mean those who didn't vote for them are wrong. Don't watch the show anymore. You might have thought he was the best. I didn't. If he did win, I wouldn't go around talking about the morons who voted for the bald guy who did nothing but stomp his left foot and scream. Really.....it's not that important.

Chris was cool, but I think Taylor's personal style is very distinctive. A comment like that just takes away from the credibility of this person for me.

I was shocked when Chris was out, but he'll do just fine. I've heard he's gotten a bunch of offers and I'll buy any CD he puts out. I lurrve him, lol!! Now I'm hoping for Elliott to win-I like Taylor also but Elliott just seems so sweet and I think he's got a nice voice. Tonight they sing 3 songs-anyone know the theme??

I just can't get over how UPSET people are about this.

IT's not like he was executed, he was voted off of a singing show because some of the voters liked someone else.

I'm sure he'll be a millionaire with an excellent singing career - don't feel too sorry for this guy.

ITA! I can't believe the way people are acting like he's dead or something. It's a singing competition and quite frankly I thought he sounded like he was singing the same song week after week after week... you get the idea.
In my mind, Katharine's the only one with pure vocal talent, but I think Taylor will win and I have no problem with it as he is the best performer. Will everyone agree with me? Heck no but if Katharine goes this week, I won't threaten to boycott future seasons. How ridiculous.

I felt the same way about Chris. Over and over....same song, different words...stomp the foot, walk around with the entire mike stand, look into the camera with his mouth open like a guppy.....scream at the end.

Although, the band was GREAT during his songs. Not to mention all of the lights and lasers. So, his performances were interesting at least.

I could never boycott the show....I'd try, but I'd end up flicking over to see what was going on anyway.

I never cared for Carrie Underwood last year but I still watched week after week and I've watched every week this year. It's a fun show to watch. I was hoping Chris would win but in the end, just like Bo Bice, he'll do just fine. And in the end, he may end up better off because he won't have as many restraints and commitments as the final winner.

I wouldn't call it a boycott, but I don't intend to watch the remainder of the season. The remaining 3 bore me to death. Chris sang the style of music that I prefer and the rest are just too bland for my personal tastes. I am confident that Chris has a huge future ahead of him and we will see him again and hear him on the radio.

Funny? I just re-read the article and, honestly, I just couldn't find any humor in it. I take AI about as seriously as any other show that is suppose to be entertaining. I watch it, discuss it and then get back to real life.

But that article funny? I don't think so.

I re-read it, too and did sort of hear the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm... nothing like some of the blogs I've read this week on the web, NONE of which I could link to a family board...

What I don't get is his point. Last year's winner may have been indicative of his point but what about Fantasia? And Ruben? Hardly the "squishy" middle by any stretch of the imagination. And since when is Taylor "bland"???? He may not be someone's taste but bland he AIN'T.

We got it, people are upset about Chris's boot off, I've never heard so many theories since Pres. Kennedy was killed! It's only a show and the only real loser is AI, because they blew the best ratings they could've EVER had by not having Chris in the finale. Like I said before, it's Neilsen POISON!
