So right now they are offering 50,000 points/miles for signing up for their credit card. The promo page says it they can be redeemed on 50 partners to 800 destinations. Do you think it would be realistic to book a roundtrip to Hawaii through this promo?

I just did a search in my southwest rewards and put in Raleigh, NC to Hawii for a sat to sat in may 2012 and all flights were over 100,000 points RT for 1 person. Cheapest I saw was 103,000. If you want me to check specific dates and from your city I can but looks like it will only get you 1way.

Thank you so much. I live in Indy, but you don't have to go to the trouble...I'm sure it won't be much better. We could still take a nice trip to somewhere SWA flies. If I can convince DH.....he's gone all Dave Ramsey on me....:rotfl:

We're thinking about signing up for that card too ... live in Hawaii and don't use SW to go to the mainland, though when we get there we use it to bounce between friends in Cali/Disneyland/Az where in-laws live several times per year.

I wasn't even aware you could get to Hawaii on Southwest, must be a partner carrier thing since they don't fly here ...

Thinking about using it to get from SMF or LAX to MCO next year, at about 10,500 points per person one way it would get me and the DH there and back and we'd only have to buy DS4's tickets ... and possibly our tix to the West Coast if we haven't moved yet. I can usually find fares for $400 RT pp off-season from Maui to West Coast.
Seems like a decent deal for the fee.

I've seen flight prices as low as $129 to MCO from San Jose/San Fran and LAX. Just gotta keep looking at the time.

Southwest is great for short hops... but it's annoying trying to get anywhere farther. I usually wind up with 2 stops/1 plane change. That's enough to make it a long day.

The SWA visa also offers gift cards for numerous stores and restaurants in exchange for your points. You can get a $50 gift card for 5000 points. So the 50K bonus points would be worth $500 in GCs. Even if you don't use the points for travel, you could get gift cards that you can use,

For those who already have the card, I just got an email for 20% off some of those gift cards, so if you are planning of using your points for gift cards now is the time. That 5000 point $50 gift card will only cost you 4000 points.
