 First I want to say that I'm so excited for this upcoming trip. (August) For several trips I have thought about renting points to OKW, and would always make the final decision to go with the ASMu. My last trip my mother went on her first trip to WDW and as usual, we stayed in ASMu. It was a great trip, but since then, mom has had a serious car accident and my dad passed away very suddenly from a fast growing form of cance. Mom just isn't in the best of health and we know this will most likely be her final trip. This trip is planned entirely arounf this fact. She needs a room that she can take breaks, relax without having to lay on the bed (like at ASMu) and we will have more down time and leisure. I have a conference before we move over via taxi to OKW. I will not be renting a car, and since we will be moving from one reosrt to OKW in the beginning, we will not be using ME.

Now here are some questions that I haven't been able to find answers or discussions about yet.

1. How do you get your luggage to your Villa after check in if you don't have a car, or use ME?

2. Mom will be using a walker (she refuses a wheel chair and is afraid of a scooter). If our room isn't ready when we arrive, where would a good comfortable place be to stay or do they have a place to check our bags?

3. My cousin may join us there, she will need to rent an EVC, where do the rental places deliver those and is it safe for her to drive it to the villa from check in?

4. I'm so open to ideas to places in the parks that mom may be able to rest in the shade. (Pretty aware of air conditioned rides and buildings)

5.Any other reminders or suggestions you may have for our OKW stay.

Thanks to you for your info!

Did you book a 1 bedroom at OKW? If not you will not have a sofa to relax. OKW is the only DVC resort at WDW with 2 beds in the studio NOT a bed and a sofa.

1. How do you get your luggage to your Villa after check in if you don't have a car, or use ME?

Bell Service will deliver your luggage to your villa.

2. Mom will be using a walker (she refuses a wheel chair and is afraid of a scooter). If our room isn't ready when we arrive, where would a good comfortable place be to stay or do they have a place to check our bags?

Bell Service will hold your luggage until your room is ready, although OKW is large enough that there is a good chance your room will be ready. There is a nice, air conditioned lounge area just to the left of the check-in area if your room is not ready. There is also a relaxing table service restaurant just across from the check-in area if you want to have a bite to eat while you wait.

3. My cousin may join us there, she will need to rent an EVC, where do the rental places deliver those and is it safe for her to drive it to the villa from check in?

The rental places usually deliver to the check-in area but maybe you could ask them to meet you at your villa. If she needs to ride to your villa from the check-in area, it should still be safe to do so.

4. I'm so open to ideas to places in the parks that mom may be able to rest in the shade. (Pretty aware of air conditioned rides and buildings)

Someone else needs to help with this. We don't do WDW in the summer. It is good that you are thinking about this because heat takes a lot out of everyone, especially the elderly!

5.Any other reminders or suggestions you may have for our OKW stay.

OKW is such a relaxing resort. I think your mom will love it! I encourage you to request a first floor villa for medical reasons or a villa in buildings 62, 63 or 64, which have elevators, due to medical reasons. Other OKW buildings do not have elevators and I don't think you want your mom to walk up steps to get to her villa.

Make sure you request a first floor or elevator building for medical reasons. Did you get a one bedroom or studio? You'd have two queen beds in the studio, but a great porch for sitting in the one bedroom or larger.

We do have a one bedroom with a request for bottom floor (medical reasons).

I forgot an important question, do they have a hot tub by the pool? Only the main pool, or allof them? Thanks.

Gerri

hot tubs by all the pools:thumbsup2 I recommend borrowing a front desk wheelchair to walk around the resort,it is LARGE.:thumbsup2Even rooms near HH are a pretty long walk if you use a walker-
I love the bus stops there,as each area has it's own stop, less crowds and lines.
If you transfer from one resort to another bell services will do it for you- but check with OKW to see if they will deliver to your room,or you have to go get them at the desk.:thumbsup2
Be sure to pack a small bag for that transfer day so you don't worry about how long it might take:thumbsup2
I love OKW,it's my fave place! have fun!

If your first resort is a Disney resort, they will transfer the luggage to OKW for you. Call bell services to have them transfer it. Of course, if your first resort is off-site, that won't work.

Once you arrive at OKW, you may drop your luggage with bell services. Once you are able to get into your room, call bell services to have it delivered, you will have to physically be present in the room to have have the luggage delivered, they will not place it automatically as they do with ME.
