Do you remember a time when they showed Disney movies in the "rec center"?(I assume that means community hall) I was reading some old WDW guide books today and they talked about the fact that "2 Disney movies are shown every evening in the rec center". Just curious if anyone remembers this, and when they discontinued it?

Joined in '94 - made our first trip in June. Unless I am wrong (or just senile), they were not doing it then.

My recollection is that the movies were shown in Community Hall- but were VCR projections on the screen used for the Member Updates.

I don't remember when that was discontinued as a regular resort activity.

Like Doc said, it was a long time ago and they used a video projector.

I even remember when we would get little "gifts" when we stayed at OKW, like photo albums, just for "being a member" - I'm pretty sure those came out of the developers advertising budget. I also remember being able to call ahead prior to check-in, giving them your credit card # over the phone. When you got there, your room keys and resort packet would be waiting for you at the Member Express Check-in area.

We joined in 95 and they still showed movies then...but they were the same ones they had on video to check out...we went once and decided it made more sense to let the kids pick out something, take it to the room and watch it there in their jammies, with microwave popcorn.

Apparantly everyone else thought so too because hardly anyone came, so I guess they finally quit.
