Can anyone tell me what amusement park the "Wally World" scenes were filmed at? My dh thinks it's maybe a Great America in California. It's bugging us! Anyone know??

It was Magic Mountain...I remember going on that white wooden coaster backwards. I'll have to get back out there someday.

On a side note, when they stop at the Grand Canyon, the outside shots of the hotel were filmed at El Tovar hotel. My sis and I are staying there when we go next month!

Ahh... what a great movie! We actually took the road trip, cross country, from Chicago to CA in a station wagon in about 1987!!! But we went to San Francisco and didn't put a dead grandmother on the top of our car!! But we did do the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas (although they didn't do that until a sequel)...

My sister and I say that all the time! Especially if we're on a trip or something.

Just the other day we were at Petroglyph ceramic studio, and they had the music on an 80's station. "Some Like It Hot" by Power Station comes on, and my sister says, "Rusty: The European Tour."

LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!! (And all the Vacation movies!)

It was on Sunday night (I think) and I watched part of it, but it was late and I was tired and didn't see the whole thing.

I recorded the movie on TVLand the other night. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm hoping they did som eheavy editing so that it will be a bit more kid-friendly.

We were at Knoebel's Grove amusement park in PA over the weekend and I noticed on all their signage under their logo it said, "America's Favority Family Fun Park"... DH and I both said "No it isn't, that's Wally World!!!"

Zippa D Doodah, they did change that to "my science teacher" instead of Daddy on tv the other night. I'm not sure about the other parts.

For our brick, we chose "the Timm family". That's because of National Lampoon's Vacation when Clark kept saying "because we're the Griswald family" (actually he didn't as we learned later, but we've thought of that movie so much.
"We like to send out a mailer." Right now that's our favorite line, but there are so many! Next week we're going to the Grand Tetons, staying in a tent/RV place. I'll tell you if the guy at check-in is spitting out watermelon seeds, I'm outta there!
