I was thinking about that this morning. If Bush wins this year, he will have no restraint since he is not able to run for election again.

Exactly!

I wonder how many moderate Republicans will wind up regretting voting for him if that happens.

Probably about the same number of both Democrats and Republicans who were so relieved on December 13, 2000 when Gore conceded, halting the counting of legally cast votes, and too many Americans breathed a sigh of relief that "the nightmare was over".

No, the nightmare was just beginning which is what happens everytime a free people give up their rights without a fight.

Don't ever forget and keep fighting.

The biggest reason I'm voting for Kerry is that I don't want Bush to be in a position to select Supreme Court Members.

I'm very much in agreement with this worry. While I am definitely worried about what Bush/Cheney will be able to do if they get 4 more years, I think one of the most long lasting will be any appointments to the Supreme Court. Since Bush said he most admires Scalia and Thomas, it does not bode well for a moderate court.

Next worry is the enourmouse damage that has been done to the US's international reputation. I'm not saying that we should always be concerned about what others think but look how far we've fallen from the almost universal goodwill we had after 9/11. If Bush/Cheney stay in office another 4 years, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a couple of decades to recover.

I'm sure if we even talked politics there would be comaraderie. The anonimity of this board makes the dialog much more direct.

Ummmmmm, well maybe a little. Actually I find the older I get the easier it is to speak my mind - and I've always been direct. I try to be respectful but if attacked I have been known to retaliate.;) But I'll take that drink....anything as long as it doesn't have gin in it. I promise I'll be kind if you will.:smooth:

Hey CFG, I had to go to Branson on business a few years ago. I actually had a hard time finding a beer in that town.

It is the strangest place. I don't go there if I can help it. The shows are not my cuppa tea and the atmosphere is odd, to put it kindly. Why would anyone want to see people who perform without their teeth?

I had a driver who got me from the airport in Springfield (I think) to Branson. His name was Grizzley. He was a hoot. His other job was being "Charlie Daniels" in one of those shows. :teeth:

One of the days our group went out to lunch. It was a cafeteria/gas station/liquor store--a very busy liquor store I understand, as the next county over was dry.

Very strange to this Yankee, I tell ya. I thought I was in the twilight zone. :space:

No need to promise. I would assume nothing less from you than kindness. Again, I'm convinced none of us are as we seem on the political threads. I think it would be quite interesting if we could manage to coordinate such a get together. My guess is it would be rather logistically impossible.

I am so angry !

Did anyone see Giuliani this morning blaming the troops for the missing explosives? He said " no matter how you try to blame it on the president, the actual responsibility really would be for the troops that were there. Did they search carefully enough? Didn't they search carefully enough?"

The troops? Excuse me ! The troops? Are they losing their friggin minds? Rather than have this administration just once admit they made a mistake they have now sunk to blaming the troops????? This is beyond disgusting. And don't a one of you dare forget what this scumbag just said when he makes a run for the presidency himself. I am so furious I could go on and on. How dare they try to blame the troops while they accuse Kerry of not supporting the troops. What a sorry bunch they are.

My guess would be that he was thinking "protect Bush at all costs".

And if anyone from the Kerry camp had said this, it would be the lead story on every news program. Liberal media my ***.

Breaking my self-imposed silence, for me the logistics to meet at WDW is a piece of cake. I'm only 2 hours away and I just might be up for a meet if one was arranged.

Btw, ever think some of us may be worse in person. :)

I hear what you're saying and I might tend to agree. I say "tend to" because I don't want any radical weather shifts like snow in Florida.

I wish I had saved that post from the old DB about a group of DB'rs meeting at WDW.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I am seriously jealous.

My sister just called. She's at the Kerry rally in Madison. It was hard to hear her over the roar of the crowd. She said there are thousands and thousands of people there and the pictures should be spectacular. She's waiting for Bruce Springsteen and John Kerry. I think she said they just heard the Foo Fighters but as I said it was very hard to hear her. I know my nephew, Nate, isn't at West High school today as he's volunteering and has been at the rally site since early this am. Not bad for a 15 year old! Oh how I wish I could be there.

That as an idiotic statment. He's essentially doing the same thing Kerry is...blaming the troops. The troops did their job. Blaming Bush would be like blaming the CEO of an airline for a plane crash caused by pilot error.

Thankfully, Guiliani is not applying for the job of CiC like Kerry and Bush are.

It's support Bush at any cost.

Let's see how many Bushies come out and condemn this.

Let's see if Zell Miller or Ahhhnold say anything.

Oh what the hell, let me really go over the clilff...........let's see if this WH has anything to say or at least, refuse to appear with Giuliani again.

Are you hinting that it'll be a very cold day in Florida if both sides of the DB got together for drinks at Pleasure Island? Notice I didn't say a cold day in hell!

Well, now I have gone from angry to laughing. The following is so absurd, there is little left to do but laugh.

Appropriately titled "Whatever It Takes", the new BC04 ad uses Bush's convention acceptance speech, stirring music, and images of dedicated troops and families in the heartland.
It also uses Photoshopped images to turn a small crowd into a large one:

Do they really think the rest of the world is that stupid?

Isn't the last meet attempt the real story behind Blizzard Beach?
